•Item - Priest T10 Healer 4P Bonus - Increases the effect of your Renew and Power Word: Shield spells by 5%. (Old - Your Circle of Healing and Penance spells have a 20% chance to cause your next Flash Heal cast within 6 sec to reset the cooldown on your Circle of Healing and Penance spells.)

Wasn't holy priests majority of renew going towards over healing anyway?

The disc one looks decent, but I've already started buying shadow tier and I'm not sure the crit/haste/spellpower would factor out

Quick dirty math

Shield absorbs for 8k
5% of that is 400
say you cast 65 shields on blood queen
that’s 26,000 potential extra absorbs if every single bubble was fully used

What is that equal to, like 3 circle of healing or 2 PoM's from a holy priest?

Hate to sound negative but on the best fight I can think of for this bonus it doesn't seem to be catching my attention

It is nice that blizzard is trying something else after 4 or 5 full threads on the subject...

Oh man... I was looking forward to getting the 4-piece bonus to test out how the proc worked (I'll have the emblems this week). This bonus doesn't excite me at all.

I wasn't exactly thrilled about the proc, Fheal, goto spell thing, but it offered something different to those who could alter their style a bit to accomodate it. Passive bonuses are nice, but not very sexy.

Source?

This is absolute ****. The previous bonus ROCKED if it procced, allowing us to finally cope with serious bust damage on the tank - if it didn't proc, the tank died. This bonus is just plain ****. It's better than nothing but absolutely everything is said witht hat.

To be honest, aside from it not proccing, I can't see how you can *not* like it. It allows you to go Penance>Flash Heal>Penance which A) brings your tank healing up to scratch with paladins and B) allows you to replace a whole bunch of Flash Heals in your average raid battle with Penances, meaning you raid heal quicker, more efficient and with more throughput. Its only real problem is that it's a proc with a too low proc chance. And then they had to go and nerf the proc chance as well. If it had a 100% proc chance it would've blasted the hell out of the new bonus, but even with the 20% proc chance I'd argue it's better than 5% more shielding.

While I can appreciate them being mathematically harder to simulate and/or balance, I've always liked tier set bonuses that give you a 'toy' to play with. Just a flat "5% MOAR" is boring, I get that every time I upgrade my gear. Sad that they would do that to what was an interesting mechanic, even if it wasn't being utilized much/well by the population at large. Smiley: mad

It's a bit odd also that they would do this now, given their desire to move player design toward "more interesting" ways of doing things and paring down the "5% MOAR" type of things such as talent points.

I have to admit on first reading I was not excited by the proc based 4pc Tier set bonus. I figured that with the relatively short CD on Circle that the benefit or ending that CD earlier would be minimal at best. Of course, you are casting your best spell a bit sooner if it procs. I finally got my 4pc bonus last night, and playing w/ it kind of excited me. I'm still not horribly jazzed about it, but I could make it work for me. I had still hoped they would replace it with something more powerful, though.

However, this replacement is even worse. Buffing renew is worthless, buffing shield slightly better but not by much.

How much longer is Blizz gonna make us the Captains of Mediocrity?

:(

Well, I can explain part of it. I have no clue why they would've found the old bonus 'overpowered' or something, but regardless of that, it makes sense that they'd just go "oh well, we tried, but we've got more important things on our mind right now than thinking up an awesome set bonus so we might as well just give them a % buff".

Healing Priests.

Us over here in the shade are quite happy with our bonus, thank you very much.

And yes, I do believe I'll take this opportunity to rub it in. :D

Pfff. There is always a shortage of healers, and holy and disc are just downright awesome now. If you're playing shadow, YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!

There. I said it.

Last week, I joined an ICC25 pug. After the first fight, I checked the meter (I actually had a friend in the group check his meter- I don't run recount in 25s) and was pleasantly surprised to find that the shadowpriest was top caster dps. It was the first time that I tossed PI on a fellow priest in a long time.

Incidentally, the group got past the first wing (despite losing three marks on Saurfang!) and was just strong enough to down Festergut after a few wipes. Just barely had the dps to down him.

Oops, responded to a post instead of posting what I originally came here for... need to let coffee take effect before logging in >.>

I just got my 4-piece bonus and on first look, I like the way it is. As long as you have some way to alert you to the proc it is great! I use powerauras with a sound to alert me, similar to the FoL proc, but distinctive so that I don't confuse the two, which could be rather confusing as Holy.

Having spent only a short time using it as both Disc and Holy, I appreciate it more as Disc, but still found it useful while Holy. I tend to set up heals further in advance as Holy and getting the proc caused an occasional moment of confusion while I re-ordered my casts, but it is no different than getting used to SoL procs. In fact, it combines better with my Holy rotation better since I normally have a Fheal queued up behind CoH anyway.
