[Enhancment] Help rasing dpsFollow

#1 Mar 02 2010 at 8:25 PM Rating: Decent
I have been raiding with my guild for quite some time, but because of my weird and seemingly random schedule , due to the military, I am almost always behind in gear and progression. Recently they have been shorthanded and i saw it as a way to become more of a core raider . Unfortunately my dps is topped by just everyone in nearly every fight.
My gear score is about 5.5k the majority of the other people in raid have about 5.8 I average about 5k to 6.5k dps on boss fights. Most of my other guildmates are doing at the very least 8k , and sometimes going as high as 12k.
Thought I don't plan on getting quite that high , i want to at least break the 7k barrier

Your priority list would be helpful.

Isn't over 600 hit rating a bit high? If so, maybe switch out the trinket for the Frost badge one?

So after researching it it looks like you have waaay too much hit.

In a raid you can expect to get a 3% hit buff from moonkin druids or shadow priests, this leaves 14% from gear. This means you need 368 hit rating or 342 if you are a Draenei.

Ok so having capped all your specials, expertise and spell hit (which is not something immediately obvious to most players) what now can I now look at the "normal" stats. The answer is yes once you have capped all three elements above go for : AP, Haste, Crit, Agi, Armour Penetration. More hit isn't a bad thing either but a lot less important once you have capped spell hit. After that AP or Haste tends to be best with Crit/AGI/ArP somewhat lesser stats. What you go with will very much depend on your overall gear balance. For best results use the Simulator EnhSim available from here. NB. Enhancement is a hybrid spec stacking any one stat will tend to be bad.

Looks like you can use some new trinkets to get rid of some of the extra hit you have.

For whatever reason, it doesn't seem to want to let me edit my posts right now.

I took a look at your gems and while your gem choices are ok, they're placement is quite bad. I've calculated that by just changing the placement of the exact same gems you already have socketed, you could scrape up +18 AGI. Socket bonuses should not always be achieved, but when you are able to, go for it. Shaman have 2 good choices for red gems(+exp,+AP) and two equally good yellow choices(+hit,+haste). Keep in mind that the +exp and +hit are only good if below cap. The only time you should not be getting a set bonus is if it requires a blue gem(you can still get 1 via +stats gem) or if the bonus is a useless stat(+SPI?). Shamans are lucky to have 2 equally good stats(haste vs. AP), so make the best of it.

10) Stormstrike
11) Lava Lash
12) Fire Nova
13) Magma Totem

With my shaman, i follow a basic rotation, and it changes depending on what debuffs/buffs are or arent up

Stormstrike
Lava Lash
Earthshock
(Lightning bolt/Chain lightning) whenever you have 5

I will use my cooldowns and refresh my lightning shield whenever these are all simultaneously on cooldown(like flame totem/Lightning shield).
I also dont use my cds when i know i will have to move a few seconds after(air phase etc.)This just seems to me like a waste, because i could just get the whole benefit from when they land.
Ive tried out Shockandawe (shaman rotation addon based on priority), and it didnt seem to help except with lightning shield and fire totems. Although you may want to try it if it seems like it would help.

cooldowns:
Shamanistic rage
Engineering gloves-this has a seperate cooldown of 1 minute <3
Ghost wolves
Flame elemental
haste potions

This is the basic rotation i use. From my opinion enh shamans will always be lower on dps with a fight that you move a lot(Sindragosa,Putricide)simply because we dont have dots and we cant dps from anywhere like a ranged. But on fights with more burn phases(Festergut,Blood Queen), we can do a little better.

So while raiding i would suggest to judge your dps on burning bosses, and on these mobile heavy fights, just make sure you do your job right and do the best you can with your rotation(not necessarily mine).
