Am I missing anything?Follow

#1 Feb 13 2010 at 1:36 AM Rating: Decent
Hi there,

I know that so far I need a new off-hand, cloack , and boots so those don't count xD. I'm wondering am I missing anything or have I bought anything wrong with my badges?

Armory is here: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Shadowsong&cn=Trajik

Right now I do 6k dps on dummies when I blow my cd's. Any suggestions as to how to maximize it? My rotation is (with cd's) PoM AB>AP>Icy Veins>Mirror Image>ABx3>Missiles. If missiles doesn't proc by those 4, I do another AB and if it still doesn't proc I just consume the charges with ABar. Is that the basic rotation?

Thanks in advance!

It looks okay, although for the rotation I would ABx2/3-POMAB->AP/IV/Trinket->Mbar/AM.

Abar is not used in rotations anymore, I don't know where that is coming back from. It is more efficient to use AM to take up the charges unless you are moving and the stack will drop, then use Abar.

The problem is that EJ hasn't updated their arcane thread page. -.-;; You don't realize it has changed until you read the posts over a hundred pages in, and even then you need to work to figure out their rotations.

Atm, mana is an issue for me, so I'm just doing AB2+ Mbarr, generally, unless I think group DpS means I won't go OOM. But, with Cyanigosa last night, I did 3K DpS (go, go, uber mage!) the tank did almost 2, and the two other DpS... did 1K or less. The healer did 200.

They were a Rogue and a Hunter, too. SERIOUSLY. I resisted looking at their profiles.

That's true, maybe I will message Manly and see if he can put a note that the information is outdated.

It now has a note attached, if you did message him. So thanks.

If you didn't, that's a pretty weird coincidence...

A fair request. Truth be told I long planned to do something about it, but unfortunately I had to temporarily stop playing the game due to health problems (seriously, 2 of my fingers are going permanently numb if I were to keep playing games :/ ). I wanted to do something about it for a while, so I guess now is as good as ever.

I'll update it when the time comes, although this assumes my interest in wow were to stay. I thought Ideally to start a new thread over, if it didnt happen beforehand, once cataclysm will get out, since this is the only time where new information would be truly important (since well, as we both know mage tc hasnt moved in months). I'll update the thread within 10 minutes.

You only have 134 Hit. That equates to about 5%. You need 17% to be hit capped (Without other modifiers).

Also - This is more for Anobix - But I don't know if all of the +Crit stuff is optimal. While crits are nice - is it that important? I thought that was more of a FrostFire Spec stat... (I'm assuming FrostFire is also out of current favor).

I think it Goes Hit (Till Cap)>Spell Power> other stuff. I took the 4 pieces of T9 plus some shoulders. (They're called the fancy shoulders or something like that - drop in ICC-5mans. You also can get the Frost trinket. It adds a Ton of hit and has a decent "On use" effect.

I too have major mana problems. So some spirit isn't a bad thing - I have not yet begun to gem/enchant for haste and you seem to have a few.

I didn't see anything that was specifically +crit with the exception of the crit gem in the shoulders (should be spellpower/haste like the rest of the mare gemmed in yellow slots).

At lower gear levels you really take what you can get. I'm really not a big fan of the frost trinket, I think that the badges could be far far far better spent on actual gear upgrades instead of that. The +hit is okay, but I would rather focus on getting it from other attainable pieces of gear. I'm currently sitting at 198 hit (about 12 below the 8% arcane cap). I personally would have went for the T9 helm with the triump badges rather than the badge one, same with the shoulders. The boots need to be replaced, if the OP has some money or has another source of saronites the deathfrost boots would be an excellent addition.

Hi again,

I didn't want to make another thread so I'll post it here. I have 95 emblems of frost and I don't know what I should replace. I was leaning to replace the head as I accidently bought clouded sight so I would get more haste etc. Then I was thinking about legs but they drop in voa. Any suggestions?
#11 Mar 09 2010 at 9:52 AM Rating: Good
I'm confused as to why you have two pieces of vendor 245 gear instead of t9...

I would replace your chest piece or your shoulders. Check Rawr to get a good idea of which piece is the biggest upgrade. The T10 legs are the weakest of the set so I would only get them to get your 4pc from a VoA drop until you can get the other piece.

Also, forge ember is still a bad trinket, continue moving towards getting something a lot better (abyssal rune or even the emblem of heroism trinket (sundial) is better). And I'm sure that the nevermelting ice crystal, even though it is a mediocre trinket, is better than that one as well.

Thanks for the advice Anobix. About the trinket, yeh I've been running Pit of Saron to get the ice crystal but no luck thusfar.
#13 Mar 11 2010 at 5:29 AM Rating: Decent
Also another question, I just ran PoS and got the trinket. My question is how should I incorporate two "active" trinkets into my rotation. What I usually do on boss fights is first 3xAB>PoM+AB>AP+Trinket1+IV+Mirror Image>MBAM and rinse repeat with the normal rotation. Should I use the damage trinket first then when the shared cooldown is up, I use the nevermelting ice crystal?

Don't use NEIC for your Icy Veins trinket, since it has a diminishing return that's preset. You will get the exact same effect from it if you are casting spells at 2 seconds each as you will at 1 second each. A spell power trinket, on the other hand, DOES benefit from you getting more spells in, as it has a full effect for the entire duration. Doing more during that duration is very important.

That said, I don't get your CD usage.

For Heroics, I do this:

MI (Hopefully a second or so before I would start attacking normally)>IV+AP+Trinket+AB>ABSpam>Mbarr.

Once PoM is up, I use it on an ABx4 or when moving.

I reuse everything as it comes up. My NEIC is used when the shared CD is off my trinket.

If the shaman is going to use Heroism at the start, I still use IV. Fights just don't last long enough for me to bother not using it--most bosses die before the full duration of Bloodlust>IV is up.

Sounds about right, the only difference in my cooldown usage is that I pop everything at the beginning with MI, then pop AP when it gets back up, then hold onto the others until AP comes back up and pop them together again, only lose a couple of seconds while that is going on but you get the benefit out of it -- as long as you aren't cutting yourself short a full duration of cooldown usage, of course.

Just want to be sure, is the "AB" in the sequence "IV+AP+Trinket+AB" arcane barrage or arcane blast? I know that it's usually written as Abarr, but you have "ABSpam" after it so I was thinking it might be different. You know what I mean?
#17 Mar 12 2010 at 12:46 AM Rating: Good
AB is always arcane blast.

I think the AB and ABspam is denoted differently as the first part is a complete macro to start with AB with a /cast arcane blast at the end of it, followed by ABSpam->Mbar until CDs are gone.
