I am playing this set up in 2v2 with an in game friend and cannot find a guide to tactics even on arena junkies.
Please can some players using this set up give us some tips and suggetions for making the most of this combination.
I am guessing it is not a popular combo due to that fact there was no guide.

You probably wont kill stuff, like at all. Ret needs an offensive healer to succeed in 2s, and holy paladins need a mortal strike effect from their dps partner.
You can certainly get well over 1500 if you're good but it isn't an ideal comp for getting a really high rating. Are you blood elves? You'll have to be reallky good at chaining hammer of justice to silence to repentence in order to set up kills.
