Help me from embarrasmentFollow

Hey everyone,

I just want to say thanks in advance. This is my second post, and I am hoping you can all help me out as much as my previous one (Titled: PLEASE Help). My last post you gave a lot of great advice on my spec and rotation. I am currently running with the mutilate spec and standard rotation from that thread and my DPS went up significantly. Now I ususally average around 2-2.5 k with spikes on bosses around 3-4k. I was just wondering if this is good DPS or not? I am not sure what the ball park figure for DPS with my gear should be. I have a feeling that I am still lower from what I should be at. In terms of using spreadsheets, I have tried them but a lot of my gear is not listed and I can't seem to edit it to fit my toon (Excell is not exactly a friend of mine).
A second question I have is how to speed up switching targets and would this increase DPS significantly or not? Clicking on an assist Macro is my current method. I was just wondering if I am better off with TAB.
Anyway, I was just hoping to hear some of your opinions on the matter. I appreciate any and all advice. Thanks again.

Here is my armory: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Uldaman&cn=Dokkenwood&gn=Hellfire

I cannot access the armory at the moment, but depending on what you're doing, that dps is fine. Not sure if it's acurate though, but I found that after targeting a mob and getting them down, that when I hit tab, it does go to the target the tank is targeting. I'll try to check some more later tonight when I have access to the armory, but I'm sure someone else will be able to better help with the whole mutilate thing.

Thanks for the quick response. My DPS ranking could be off. I just got recount and am still trying to figure out how to use it. On average I would say I am usually around 2-2.5, but have seen 1.5-2 at times depending on the mobs and if I am not able to get into my full rotation. I spiked a 4k DPS on recount on the one Boss in UK two nights ago and I think that is a high.

Again, I am new to recount and am still figuring it out, so those DPS figures could be off.

Yeah it's a bit difficult to determine one's DPS with recount for some reasons. Such as, running with a "leet" geared group and mobs going down too fast for you to get at least some hits in, or even depending on dungeon difficulty (such as the difference between nexus and PoS).

Easier to determine your dps on a sustained time level. Such as a boss fight.

I'm a recently 80 rogue that is just a few upgrades past where you're at (couple more triumph badge purchases, couple more hTOC and hICC5 drops). I'd say with your mostly i200 set you're doing well at 3-4k on bosses. You should expect some difference between trash and boss dps, especially as mut, but the fact that the discrepancy is so large (1-2k) surprises me a bit and makes me wonder what your "rotation" is on trash. I use the word rotation loosely since trash tends to die so fast these days, it's less a rotation and more a race to get stealthed after the last pull, get engaged, get HfB up, get to FoK spammin'. ...don't forget tricks!

Hi Silentblade,

It is very hard to judge your dps from instances since there are so many different types of boss fights and the level of the bosses are different from raid bosses too. This means they have less armor and your attacks have less chances to miss them, don't forget the buffs available from your raid party too. All these variables make instance dps highly inaccurate since your concern on dps should be how much you do in raids not instances.

Don't be too concerned about your dps currently, try to make it to raids, start with Toc 10s and 25s. Do all the new heroic instances because they give excellent starting raid gear.

Regarding your targeting question, I find tab good enough for targeting. It also helps if you zoom as far as you can from your character. I find it easier to click on targets if there is a need. My tank finds that extremely useful and easy targeting.

Hope this helps!
