Well, have always had melee/dps types but this Warlock is fun to play. She does okay at both.
She is almost 10, what is best spec for her leveling and do I switch to another any time before 80?

Well, I'm sure it changes depending on level. And each play style is fairly different as far as I know.
Do you want to Drain Tank? That was pretty fast from what I recall.
Do you want to play more like a Hunter, and let your pet keep aggro?
Do you just want to throw caution to the wind and nuke everything down ASAP?
I think you'll be getting great exp either way. So I'd say just think about what you want to try, and do that.

I'm currently leveling a new loc (14 ATM) and am still convinced that for solo leveling Demon spec is the easiest to level with. At later levels I do the Demon tree to bet to Summon Felguard and start in on the Destro tree. It's a fun leveling spec.

Thanks. Have always sworn I was a lousy caster. I do have an 11 Mage but the Lock seems to be more fun. Will try Demon then for now. Havent played her for a couple of days but going to Level 10 tonight.
Well my Lock is 39, and I went deep affliction. My dots tick so high that mobs die chasing me if my voidwalker cant handle them but he rarely loses aggro. With corruption I get hp returned from every mob with it on, and possible instant shadow bolts. Drain tanking isn't hard and its relaxing, you might wanna try it.

Drain tanking and Drain hunting are both affliction leveling strategies. have a look at the Shadow Compendium for other playstyles.

Hi i made a 29 warlock and tried Affliction and demonology so far. I must say that the easiest for me was demonolodgy for leveling since quests are run smoothly , the voidwalker can tank anything while placing some dots is fun to play. On the other hand while in dungeons (Gnomeregan) i dont seem to do descent numbers unless there is a pack of mobs to aoe. I dont intend though to use anything else because the pet can handle those mobs chasing the healer or a DPS..very usefull in low instances where no one knows no one and trusts nobady. If i run with alts from guild all the time in instances I dont think I would pick demonolodgy.
About Affliction ? yes seems to do a lot more damage but its a pain in the ... trying to life tap / drain life all the time. I prefere the hunter way.

Things are not alive long enough for dots to tick but they are usefull as mobs run away when low on HP and bring more adds.If they got some DOT on them no matter where they run , they shall die.Destruction Dps numbers seem greater but Aff has less mana issues.Can only beat a mage in boss fight though.

I started my warlock off with Demonology mostly cause at the time I wanted a character with a pocket tank. By the time I got to twenty I switched to Affliction and never looked back.
The higher I got, the better it became, I usually just run around and cast Corruption + Curse of Agony, Tab, Corruption + Curse of Agony, Tab, repeat repeat repeat and never stop running. Every few mobs hit life tap and you'll never run out of mana and never die and mobs die constantly. Makes kill quests delicious.
I hiiiighly suggest Affliction just for the ludicrous slaying of hordes of terrified creatures.

I have tried all 3 trees up to mid levels and each is great fun in its own way .
I will say try each style out until you find one you enjoy as the tree you choose makes only a small difference until around level 40 and then its time to properly decide , at around level 40 drain tanking becomes great fun but i did stack a lot of stamina so could easily take the beatings if things went wrong.

I use affliction for questing and destruction for dungeons. Affliction is great for pulling a bunch of mobs and coming out with full health and mana once the dust clears. Destruction is great for dealing huge amounts of damage without the worry of taking it. Haven't really tried demonology.
At higher levels, going Affliction is probably the fastest route.
Throw Corruption and Unstable Affliction on everything in range and do the chicken dance while they die. With Siphon Life now being a component of Corruption, drain tanking has been made easy.

Please "talk up" if your comprehension white-shifts. I will use simple-happy language-words to help you understand.
My previous warlock was affliction for leveling (pre-TBC) and then went destruction for running instances. When TBC came out he went back to affliction for more leveling and then wound up as a hybrid for arena/pvp. Affliction leveling was pretty nice, though (granted, it was "back in the day").
My new warlock is currently 45 but is demonology only. I never used the felguard on my other lock and want to try him out with this new one. Still working on getting up to 50 so I can get the felguard. As odd as it sounds, I use the succy as my pet (rather than the void) for her extra damage. It seems to make up for my weaker (than affliction) dots. I don't have very much downtime as long as I'm careful in how I hunt.

Affliction with FelHunter or Succubus, i seriously dont see why people like the felguard, i tried demo at 60 in outlands and found i was health funnelling way to often, i was fully geared T2 so fight duration was not a factor. Just my 2c.
