Hit rating for Disc ??Follow

#1 Dec 29 2009 at 8:50 AM Rating: Decent
Hi fellow Priest's

Just wondering if I'm healing as Disc, do I still need to be at the hit rating as I would a DPS'er? And if so what is that hit rating for a Disc Healer?

Thanks for the answers and sorry if this was asked somewhere else..read the sticky and nothing was there on it.

No need to worry about it unless you reliably have to be able to CC something. Having a shackle resisted can be devastating. However, it's something that would usually be done by a shadow priest if available, so there is no need to stress yourself out over it.

PvP would be another use, though you'd only stack enough enough +hit to cover the base 4% chance to miss plus whatever racials.

Along with what Kanngarnix said, as a healer, you don't need hit to actually heal someone, as you can't miss. (It's just for those little side things, like if your group has you CC for some reason)

Btw, the last boss in heroic Pit of Saron drops a staff that has you covered in terms of required hit rating, even more so if you're using the Triumph Badge wand. Might be worth switching to whenever you need to use CC.

As far as I'm concerned disc priests shouldnt use hit rating gear at all unless its for pvp purposes. The chance of a shackle resist in a heroic isn't much to worry about considering both the fact that they aren't that hard, and the fact that shackle has a short cast time and can easily be reapplied.

What about that Mind Control you have to do in 10 man Naxx? Can Mind Control miss? Or does nobody run Naxx anymore? Smiley: wink

Yes, sadly, Mind Control can miss. Even after a Mind Soothe. :P Fortunately, the raid group I was with was very understanding about it. THEN they warned me I might want to put on my Shadow gear. :)

As for Naxx10 ... my guild still runs it from time to time for grins. And you don't need priests MC'ing in the 10 man version. Only the 25. 10 man has these nice little pedestal's to use. Looking back on it, for some reason, that fight and the 4H fight are the only 2 that we use 3 healers on. :P Everything else is 2 healers only. Mostly 'cause our DPS suck and need the extra oomph that a 6th DPS will give 'em. Sadly, it's one of our more competatent DPS that switches to Resto to be our 3rd healer.

Funnily enough, I've actually recently been playing with the idea to drop some spirit for hit in my disc spec. The last time I ran out of mana was about 4 months back on an Ulduar 10 hardmode - the time before that I can't even remember. And I do use (mass) dispel quite a lot. And then I'm not even talking about the fact that I spend a lot of my spare time DPSing adds (though to be fair, this doesn't happen as much on the really hard hardmodes). I could technically drop 100-150 spirit and become hit capped when there's spriests/boomkins in the raid. Nevertheless, I'll probably end up just saving my hit set for fights that specifically need the set.

Really? I remembered it the other way around.

Maybe because I was so scarred by the 4H fight that my mind turned to jelly and blocked out most of Naxx. I still twitch and cry from time to time.

S'okay. We'll forgive you this time.

As for the twitching ... that's where I am when I think about what the DPS in my guild does. *shudder* One of these days ...
