So, yes... I retired Arex my boomkin.
I no longer raid due to real life becoming more important. My playtime has gone down a little bit but I've begun to enjoy the game a whole lot more now surprisingly. I find it incredibly interesting that when I first started this game raiding was not my intention and I actually had no clue what raiding was. Well the day I dinged 70 I purchased a set of green spell power leather items so I could "heal" and made my way into my first Kara run.
Fast forward multiple patches, 3 tiers of raiding, one expansion and 4 more tiers of raiding I've seen quite a bit of the game. I find myself missing raiding on my druid, in fact I still would love to and want to see the Lich King fall but most likely wont. What I find most interesting is that I'm playing my dk more and I'm actually reading the quest text, immersing myself into the lore of the game. I'm doing things I used to never do on my druid. I'm soloing old raids and instances for the mere fun and enjoyment of it.
I've always been a completionist when it comes to games. Hell, I spent 100+ hours in FFVII getting myself a gold chocobo. I put in almost 15,000 combined hours across two different characters in a previous game. This sense of completion is now coming into my dk and I'm enjoying the hell out of it.
So as I continue to wax nostalgia I will say, fairwell Druid Arex. Live well in your 245 gear, enjoy the sights you saw. For now, it is time for Einziger the Casual to continue this wonderful ride called WoW.
