Tanking weapon enchantFollow

Blood draining
Blade ward

Or?

I live love both. But I personally lean towards Blade ward. More avoidance and threat. It's the threat that caught my eye. I'll take what ever little amount I can get.

So, I'd love to hear your feedback on this one.

For progression tanking in 25-mans, Blood Draining because of the overall survival boost even if it's not huge.

For pretty much everything else, Accuracy or Blade Ward. Accuracy for more threat, Blade Ward for slightly reduced damage intake and a bit of threat.

Right now I have Acc on mine. +hit/+crit. Just gearing up via badges and Heroics does not really give me a lot of +hit items. I looked at your warrior and noticed your hit is at 120. Is that kindda low in raids? I'll have to look that up, I only worry about casting hit caps for my boomkin :D

120 hit is low, but it is not efficient to gem or enchant for it for any tanks. I think this weapon enchant is the one exception, because there just isn't much better than it.

I'd go for Accuracy or Blood Draining, myself. All three options just seem like splitting hairs, though.

(NOTE: If your parry is high, Blade Ward could be kinda interesting. I don't know it's proc rate/ppm/internal CD though.

It would be MUCH more interesting if they made it on every dodge/Parry. Or, hell, every Dodge/Parry/Block in the 10 seconds. Dodge comes before Parry on the hit table, so you'll see far fewer hits with this enchant than you'd like.)

Does anyone have info on Life Ward? It could possibly be useful (especially if you aren't planning to have a wep for long). It heals better than Blood Draining, too, but that heal isn't focused on when you dip low in health, so it can be lost to over healing.

And, just to add some additional info (because glow is clearly all we care about):

Blade Ward: Blue, maybe with an Orange sub-glow. Or else the weps I've seen it on have a small orange glow naturally.

Blood Draining: Orange, and it kinda "streams" towards the point of the blade.

Accuracy: Blue, but not very pronounced. Kind a "spotty" enchant.

Dunno about Lifeward. No pics on WoWHead, and my main is a DK.

I admit I'm currently gemming for it :( Only reason, the badge 245 helm has yellow gem, socket bonus of 12 stam. I put a Green gem +hit/+stam gem in it, sure I lose 3 stam, but gain 10 hit. Win/win for gearing up my warrior alt :D

Well, yeah, socket bonuses are a different story. I'm pretty sure my DK is using a Stam/Hit gem because the socket bonus is 12 stam. 27 stam and 10 hit is superior to 30 stam.

You should never use a 20 hit gem though.

120 is low. But then again, I'm only geared from 5 mans and heroics.

I tend to focus on expertise before I focus on hit rating though. Hit rating is my next goal.

Accuracy sounds fair actually. Overall it affects my abilities as opposed to conditionally. I totally forgot about that one.

Since Blade and Blood are both fairly mediocre (in a good group, you won't even use Blood) I'd be fine if my tank had Accuracy (assuming they were a Warrior and maybe a Paladin).

I'm checking out lifeward at this time.

For playing a class which until WotLK had only two cooldown based self heals (bandages, pots). I'm really liking as much added self healing as possible. I have done all my dailies, and I have yet to gone below 95% hp.

Just the math of it, accuracy seems overall the best choice for anything other than progression raiding. If affects all your abilities. While blade ward just affects your parry slightly. Since it's charge is consumed when you parry. I could see it being valuable to a tank in the -20% dodge debuff land. Making avoidance even more valuable to stack, imo.

If I'm honest, in my opinion, it depends on your raid composition.
If you have a druid in the raid, its almost pointless for blood ward, because you've got HoT's ticking on you almost all the time so if blood ward does go off its (almost) wasted because of the HoT's ticking, whereas blade ward is more parry, and damage when you do parry, even if its not very much.

As as side note, is flotprot necroposting? 'Cause I remember these threads from ages ago.

I personally like Blood Draining - most fights it will build to a full stack, and it's basically some free HP for when you are in most danger of dying. I know it definitely helped us to our first Festergut 10 kill a few weeks back. In the past, I've also used Blade Ward and Mongoose.

In terms of threat from Blade Ward, it doesn't do much for AoE threat, and I don't struggle on single target threat. I was expecting more out of it when I used it. Still a pretty decent enchant, but I preferred both Mongoose (for farming) and Blood Draining (only for progression fights really).

And yes, flotprot decided to necro a bunch of threads to no good purpose.
