Interrupt? Me?Follow

Hey guys...noob question here....

Being almost always strickly holy (I'm very good at healing) I was surprised when I was asked to go shadow for a TOC 10 run this week. Having never dps'd in there before it was exciting untill we got to the twins. Just as we pulled the raid leader said " and priest...dont forget to interrupt when they try to get that heal off after the shield..."
Well I kinda panicked because I had no idea what interrupt he was talkin about. After the shield went down my DBM flashed a message that said " Kick Now". As I stared blankly at the screen they got the heal off...we wiped...and I was booted before I had a chance to sheepishly explain my noobyness. Had he asked me to interrupt before we pulled I would have asked them exactly what I was to do but...I never got that chance so I'm asking here. What interrupt am I suppose to use there? I'm sure walking up and /kicking the boss wouldn't work lol. Shadow is my off-off spec so I really need help on this one.

Thx

What you didn't spec into kick boxing as a shadowpriest?

o_O Mass Dispel...? LoL, I have absolutely no idea. I've always been on heals and noobishly avoid doing/knowing much more than that role. I still refuse to "tank" 25man Naxx...

LOL kickboxing ya....that should be a talent for sure.

As far as mass dispel...DBM always tells ya when to do that so I assumed that wasn't it. Plus the mechanics don't fit...dispel gets rid of a debuff, an interrupt stops a cast (heal) from taking place. Surely I cant fear them....??

Silence? I'm not familiar with this particular fight, but as of 3.2 I thought there was an interrupt attached to Silence as well.

Quote:
This ability will also apply a 3 second interrupt effect against non-player controlled targets, making it more versatile against creatures immune to silencing effects.

Are you a blood elf? I bet they wanted you to use your arcane torrent!! They had you switch to shadow because the hit value on your gear will decrease the chance it misses.

hehe, like I said I have no clue.

Most spriests opt out of that talent in their PVE builds though don't they? Maybe they just expected you to have it as a base spell.

I dual spec Holy/Disc, or sometimes Holy/Holy. Next time put on your DPS gear and tell them you'll just use Smite.Smiley: laugh

Does Psychic Horror have any kind of interrupt to it, or is it just a ranged disarm?

My first thought is to believe all raid bosses are immune to Psychic Horror but I could be wrong...gonna go read more on it later. With 3.3 about to pop I think it's time to bring my knowledge of my shadow abilities up to par.

Yeah, it's a strictly PvP talent. Most times there's a shaman or rogue or something that can interrupt. Interrupters, we are not.

On the contrary. We are everywhere, Moz. [cue creepy music] "Look, the people you are after are the people you depend on. We cook your meals, we haul your trash, we connect your calls, we drive your ambulances. We guard you while you sleep. Do not... f**k with us."

Smiley: nod

I really hope it was a PuG you were in because the RL was a douche. The only class that I know can kick are rogues, and if he's asking YOU to kick, then obviously he hasn't raided much.

Firt of all...Teacake, thats from Fight Club :) I know this cuz my wife has watched every Brad Pitt movie eleventy-seven times now /sigh. Off topic question for ya Tea...with 1-2 holy specs, do you ever take 2/2 in Body and Soul? I notice most of the big raiders on my server that are holy don't take it, but I love it! 60% speed boost is nothing short of amazing when in a fight that requires alot of running around, but I've had other priests QQ this particular choice of talent O.o

And Nocturnal...you're right...the raid leader found his way onto my ignore list pretty quickly.

I love Body and Soul more than cupcakes and daisies and the Fourth of July. It's indispensible in PVP, but I always take it in every build always with no exceptions ever. For PVE it's situationally useful, yes, but in those situations there is nothing cooler. However, I don't raid, so my spec doesn't need to be particularly tight and I can play with the fun talents instead of the srs bsns talents if I want to. I'll leave the raiders to comment on whether it's worth 2 points in current content or not.

Now, if they'd shuffle it over to the Disc tree and you could have B&S and Penance? Smiley: inlove

I recently respec'd my priest's Holy spec (he's Holy/Shadow as you can see ... here). I had skipped over Empowered Renew (for some brain dead reason I can't remember - I'll blame it on the fibro fog and y'all will just smile/nod and we'll pretend it never happened). I did have B&S and when I respec'd I tried to keep it and Holy Concentration. Guess which one got chopped when I was short a couple points? And to the the truth, I don't really miss Holy Concentration. Smiley: grin

Aside from the removal of poisons on yourself, the speed boost is great for heavy movement fights (Anub'erak fight while he's submerged is a good example). I'd shield whomever's being chased by the spikes and it makes it that much more likely that they'll actually hit a patch of permafrost instead of being spiderfood. Oh, and it helps when recovering from a wipe at the back end of a raid and you're running back to get started again.

I give up Test of Faith for it. My equipment is not good enough to go without Holy Concentration.

I would love to be able to have body and soul. Alas, as disc, at least I can still have my Nitro Boosts. Heck yeah a speed boost is worth it, and it's good clean fun.

Hehe. Really, mine isn't either. I spend so much time inside the 5SR that I don't notice the miniscule amount of extra regen I was getting from Holy Concentration. As it is, I haven't had anymore mana troubles than I was having before. I don't normally take Test of Faith, so I can't really pull points from it. Smiley: grin And I'm not giving up Serendipity. :)

The funny thing is, that even there it ends up usually being worth more than the 2% healing of Blessed Resilience everybody seems to take over it. In theory, B&S sucks for raids. The thing is, it sucks only if no one in your raid ever ***** up on moving. The second people do fail on this (which is probably in 99% of all raids around) the talent can be a proper life saver and possibly even single-handedly prevent a wipe. Hence why there's discussions about it on EJ - it theoretically sucks, but practically wins.

Yeah, it's definitely one of those "sucks on paper" kind of things. I mean, an on-demand Sprint with a 15 sec CD? Okay, kinda "meh". Poison dispel on self? Situationally useful. Not as useful as a full blown Cure/Abolish Poison, but still moderately useful.

Now, put it in a practical use, it's got all kinds of uses for it. Makes the Ick & Krick fight in Pit of Saron easier. Shield the pursuee and voila! Poor guy doesn't get oneshot. Especially helpful if he's chasing you. OT, but why does Krick love to chase the healer? 3 runs through and it's 7 times being chased by that overgrown stuffed toy. On the Scourgelord Tyrannus fight, it makes it easier when he does Unholy Power for the tank to kite him across a piece of ice.
