Is it worth upgrading to merlin's robe to lose my 2 piece T8.5 bonus?

I use Chest and Hands for my T8.5 bonus.

I'd imagine the rest of your stats are likely relevant.

You are using this? And want to upgrade to this?

That's:

+28 Stamina
+22 Intellect
-50 Spirit
+1 Red Socket
Socket Bonus switches from +6 Crit to +9 SP.
-16 Crit
+90 Haste
-1 Spell Power
-2pc Bonus

Gaining Haste is nice, I suppose, if you really need it. I can't help but feel the 2pc is better, though. Of course, please note that I know very little about Mages. I'm just avoiding my textbooks and this was a new post, lol.

[EDIT]

Armory in sig, ftw.

Well, I guess the question is, how much will 90 Haste shave, and will the extra gem make up for the loss of a lot of spell power? (It's just under 3% spell haste)

If you want to keep the t8 bonus i would suggest switching from chest to helm, then using merlins robe. Even better would be to get tier 9 helm and pants and go with a 4pc tier 9 with chest as the off piece

The best T9 4pc is head/shoulders/gloves/legs with chest as merlins or the 245 chest off of I believe icehowl (or especially the 258 one).

So if you don't already have the t9 chest piece I would start working towards the badges of the two you are missing in T9. That or just wait as 3.3 will be out in a couple of weeks...

Personally I have mine, good stats, and it matches mage t9 perfectly.

Or potentially next week, if Blizz resolves the server issues. See post in main forum.

We're gonna have to see how my tank fares in the regular 5 man. LOL.

Yes i saw the netherwind crown in your armor link. It is not that great of an item because it is giving stat points to magic resist and then giving crit instead of haste. The tier 9 helm is one of the best pieces of the t9 set and should be used as part of the 4 piece.

Ran your toon on wow, currently shows you at 7649 dps.

Merlins for chest, no other changes, 7661 dps.

Merlins for chest, switch gloves to t9 for 2pc t9 bonus, 7841 dps.

Merlins for chest, switch head gloves legs for 4pc t9 bonus, 8111 dps

keep netherwind crown, use chest gloves legs shoulders for 4pc t9, 7906 dps.

I used 232 pieces in all of the slots you dont have the t9 in for comparison since it needs no tokens to get, 245 gear would increase each one proportionately of course. You can see the right set to use or build to is 4pc t9 with Chest slot as offpiece.

well by the time i finished running rawr and hit to post I see Anobix and you already posted again. Will leave this for the rawr numbers though.
