Which triumph trinket?Follow

#1 Nov 30 2009 at 1:08 AM Rating: Decent
Just asking opinions of which triumph trinket is better for Arcane mage GS 2650(wow-heroes)...I have 80 hit in gems that I could swap out for SP/haste/crit if I decided to go for the haste trink but that 100+INT + SP proc seems nice also---already doing 4-5+K in raids...any suggestions from the leets of arcane magedom?Thank you

Good question. The haste-trincket is very nice for Arcane mages indeed, dps-whise one of the best atm. However, the 245 Int+128 trincket is also very nice for a mage, sice u will gain 2500(!) mp, 1% crit and +25 sp cuz of all that int.

I'd say, go for haste, unless u got big mana-issues, then take the Int-trincket. Or have both ofc :)

FYI neither one of those has a proc effect, they are 'on use' (meaning 2 minute cooldown instead of a 45sec ICD and neither of them is good. Probably better off with the Abyssal rune from reg ToC and the Sundial of the exiled from heroism badges...

Rawr shows Talisman of Resurgence 3rd best for me for arcane behind reign of death 258 and 245. I keep it macrod with arcane power/icy veins and like it quite well.

Mmmm interesting, I'll give it a go that +128 int-trinck.

I assume RAWR values that one higher due to extra mana (I know we gain more than just mana) = less down time evocating, using a mana pot etc. Try reducing the fight time to see if that affects where it is placed.

edit: reducing the time made it more valuable. I am guessing this is due to the on use ability having a higher %age of uptime

I think that the extra mana will make it worthwhile no matter what because of the change in mana rotations, albeit the extra mana only ends up being 1 (maybe 1.5) 4-stack arcane blasts, but I guess that is valued higher as it can be replenished to that point multiple times in a fight if your cooldowns are timed correctly. Even though I generally prefer proc trinkets, I guess I could add it to my arcane power/iv/mana gem macro.

I am no hero with macro's, but would that be something like:

/use Talisman of Resurence
/cast Icy Veins
/cast Arcane Power

Cuz somtimes when hitting Icy Veins the Arcane Power is not available straigh away?

I am the same, not great with macros but can make simple ones....the macro above would work yes. Arcane power has a shorter cooldown than IV so you can use that more often. Also, what about mirror image or is that best saved for heroism/bloodlust?

I use MI as my o-sh*t button and also at the beginning of the fight so that I can go all out while the tank gets threat then if I am in danger of pulling I pop invis. That macro will work fine (as long as the trinket is spelled correctly), I would put a #showtooltip at the top followed by the spell so that you can see it on your bars with cooldown.

So that may be something I will get after I get my last piece of t9 (3/4 right now) with 72 badges.

Cheers guys, and Anobix, you were talking about proccing is more DPS, did you include your calculations with 10sec use of Proc and 20sec use when "use" the trincket?

(cuz if not, that's a nice little upgrade again ^^)

Majority of proc trinkets have a cooldown of 45 seconds as opposed to 2 mins for on use trinkets and you have to factor in for human error/forgetfulness :)

It will generally be more dps, although it can be argued that timing the use effect with other cooldowns will give similar results (although it is quite possible to time cooldowns with proc effects as well).

And with the ICD of 45seconds that means that it will proc almost 4 times (or 3.67, repeating of course) during the 2 minute period that you have to wait for the trinket to come off of cooldown. Granted that is assuming it procs every 45 seconds (best case scenario), but even then I would wager the numbers come out to favor more than 3 procs in that period.

0: Proc

45: Proc

1:30: Proc

then another at 2:15

of course these all all approximated.

In a basic 5 minute fight it breaks out like this

Use trinket can be used 3 times

fight
start 2 4

Proc trinket will hit 7 times in best case scenario, although just a few second delay after each proc will knock the last one past the 5 minute mark

fight
start :45 1:30 2:15 3 3:45 4:30

Use trinkets=3 hits x 20 seconds=60 seconds uptime

proc trinket=7 hits x 10 seconds=70 seconds uptime(if they all hit immediately, a 5 second average to proc after cooldown knocks the last hit off the back of the fight)

Obviously a 6 minute fight will give you an extra proc on an equip trinket but used 5 minute as the fairly standard theorycrafting fight timer.

Other things to consider is on proc you cant control when it goes up so just hope you arent about to have to switch to unbuffed targets or watch the worms(for example) burrow right when it goes up. On use can be stacked with other cooldowns via macro.

Not all ability cooldowns line up but it gives you the ability to get the trinket lined up more often with either icy veins or arcane blast, or both.

Volatile power is my personal exemption from this because i dont like the fact that it takes half the proc timer to get the debuff stacked to full.

Also I usually dont use mana pots except on rare occasions. Usually speed pots (and a mighty frost resist on 25man phase 3 anub hardmode).

Mmmm, loving the Trincket +128 Int. tbh in combination with the macro I made. As only mage in raid I was Nuking the Twins last night, grabbed some balls, Heroism got active, I hit my Macro and made a new record: 74.500 per crit-hit!! WooT! My guild was impressed by the big gab in damage. It was cold and lonely at the top. Not bad for such a small Gnome :)
