Weapon SkillFollow

I'm sure this has been brought up numerous times, but has Blizz ever given a reason for why weapon skills wont level in feral forms?

Is weapon skill even relevant to Druid forms? I thought it didn't affect feral damage.

And that's probably your answer.

Note:

Won't it level up in Moonkin and ToL forms, since they actually use the weapons?

Moonkin yes. Tree no. You beat people with your branch when you melee in tree form.

But unlike Cat and Bear form, your damage in Tree and Travel (Flight?) form is based on the weapon you're wielding.

Can't attack at all in flight, but travel and aquatic can; I'm not sure if it's using the weapon you're wielding or not, I can't recall ever getting a skillup in those forms.

Moonkin is the only form you can get skill ups with it. It's also the only form we have where you actually wield a weapon.

I'm pretty tired, so I may be wrong but I'm reasonably sure that tree form works the same way as Moonkin.

At least I'm pretty sure I've gotten weapon skill-ups from meleeing in tree form.

I'll log on in the morning and check.

Edit: Apparently you don't, so now I'm confused as to where my 3 weapon stats that are nearing 400 came from.

Probably that boss in H DTK who turns you into a skeleton and then you melee him.

You do get skill ups in tree form.

Or at least, you definitely did at one point in time.

While in bear or cat form, your "weapon skill" is actually considered capped at all times, because your weapons are your paws! That thing strapped across your back (or at your side) essentially becomes just another gear slot providing stats, it's no longer a weapon per se. With that in mind, it is simply not necessary to gain weapon skill at all, except for achievements or personal satisfaction.
