Which armor to use?Follow

I just hit 62 on my lock and got Fel Armor. For leveling purposes, is Demon Armor or Fel Armor more useful? I tried looking through the stickies, but I couldn't find that information.

If you want to do lots more damage, Fel Armor is your choice. It's worth lots of additional spellpower, and that's the prime stat you are always looking for in new clothes, isn't it? Which would you rather choose to wear - a cloak that gave you 1260 armor and better healing to yourself, or a cloak that gives yo +50 SP plus additional spell power equal to 30% of your Spirit?

If you drain tank, I'd go with Demon Armor since you take less damage and heal more through Drain Life and Siphon Life.

Being a Destruction Warlock myself, I tend to use Fel Armor more, because things die before they can reach me (Immolate, Conflagrate, Chaos Bolt, dead) and I use Life Tap instead of wasting time drinking/eating. Thanks to Soul Leech and Fel Armor's health regen, I can keep up the killing with zero downtime (tested this by going on a killing spree in Borean Tundra for about 45 minutes, killing maybe 100 mobs and not having to drink once).

I tend to use Demon Armor when I PvP with Affliction because it makes me last a bit longer. Additional mitigation + additional health gain from heals + Siphon Life = sweet. Now I'm level 73 and most of the time if I get ambushed in Battlegrounds, I'm dead anyway (79 Rogues, yay), so I just go all out of the damage and rarely use Affliction in the first place. If I can't burst it down before it gets to me, I'm usually dead anyway.

Okay thanks guys. Forgot to mention that I'm leveling as affliction (since everyone says that's the fastest way to go). Also, while I'm at it... are there any useful warlock add ons you guys would recommend for leveling? I already use Class Timers, which tracks DoT's on your target and informs you of procs like Nightfall.

Even when drain tanking I'd still go with fel armor most of the time due to the nice amount of spell damage it gives you, thus increasing your drain life and corruption. However, if your going up an elite or something of that effect use fel armor, drop an infernal, and when you pull aggro off(use soul-shatter but dunno what lvl you get the spell) then switch to demon armor and drain tank him.

The same goes for if you end up having to many mobs, drop an infernal and then switch to demon armor to survive. No one seems to think of the power the infernal has to get you out of a jam or kill the elite mob, best damn pet we have.

Quartz is really handy, it shows latency so you can start clicking mid way into it letting you get more out of your casting time. It also acts as a DoT timer, as it has a list of the DoTs with time left. I've always used Fel Armour. Outland and Northrend.

Yeah, I really wish you could use Quartz with the nUI interface, sadly you cannot. Thankfully the author of nUI is working on a new version which will give the cast bar some of the features quartz has.

I use necrosis, which also informs you of nightfall procs and provides a buncha extra buttons for the spells that are usefull, but you only cast once in a while. The handiest addon I use is Omen, which warns me when I'm gonna grab aggro.

If you just want the Nightfall proc icons, I highly recommend EventAlert. It displays large icons whenever something procs, be it Nightfall, Backlash or Backdraft. Really handy as you can't avoid seeing the icons.

Necrosis, if they still do it, have the additional cool factor of some dark voice saying "Shadow trance!" whenever Nightfall procs, but I don't really use the additional features it provides (like buttons for stones, minions and mounts) since AutoBar does most of it anyway.
