I was working on a build when something occured to me. By sacrificing Guardian Spirit out of Holy, you could spec into Soul Warding and be able to shield spam. GS is nice and all, I use it quite a bit, but what if I was able to do a shield spam as holy for preventative measures and then group heals for top off?

So I submit to you, my crazy build of the week!

Discuss!

That's a really solid build but I don't think your mana pool can take it without regen of other disc talents

On top of raid healing and then tossing out bubbles with no rapture or mental strength I don't know how long you could sustain that. But honestly a lot of fights I'm reading about for togc are pretty short

It's kind of interesting but might as well just go full disc because there isn't even that much raid damage in toc

Could work if you didn't need GS for the fight. PW:S would still be fairly cheap from MA and TD. Plus you would still have all the holy regen talents. You could glyph PW:S for extra punch as well.

I would almost go with this. Since you are spamming Renew, PoM, CoH and PW:S and using SoL procs on FH.

Would be hilarious as the whole raid would be running so damn fast from BnS. I could see it working in a 25 man raid for sure.

When I put the points in BnS, a smile came across my face and I knew that somehow, I had to make this work!

I think this would be fun to try. I'd give up something, anything, to fill up Surge of Light though. Spamming shield is going to be spendy. Need moar mana tricks.

That's actually a very solid new priest build, I haven't seen the likes of those in 3 months. Personally I'd never spec into it because I'm disc/holy dual-specced; I want Guardian Spirit if I go holy. That said, having an on demand speed boost on the global cooldown can be pretty interesting for some fights (Valkyr twins for example?). The slight problem regarding multiple priests here is that there's no downside to having multiple priests with Guardian Spirit; which effectively makes this build nothing more than a preference build on 90% of the fights.

Has anybody actually tried this in a raid? I might add it to the sticky.

Edit: Spellingz.

The MH in my guild may try the one I linked as his holy spec.

If GS wasn't needed I could see it being pretty awesome.

I like the one that Horsemouth linked, it has a bit more focus and direction. Leaving out Serendipity makes sense since the build looks to use instant spells and SoL procs.

I'm going to try it out in Uld tonight and see how it pans out in the fights where a cd isn't needed. Mimiron comes to mind since we don't use healer cd's for plasma blast anymore. It does make me want to hold onto my T8 4-pc bonus.

Do post your findings, I'm really interested in how it'll work out.

I did try it out in a heroic today, but nowadays I spend more time dpsing than healing in heroics, so I can't really say anything about it.

The one Horsemouth linked actually strikes me as pretty nice as well. It brings into focus the priest AOE healer that shields instead of using Prayer of Healing. In Try's build I actually think about picking up Soul Warding just to be able to spam B&S.

Definitely keep us updated though, I might be interested in using this one on hard mode Anub'Arak.

I gave the spec a test run last night, but on Ony instead of Uld like I thought we were headed. In the 10-man, I was paired with a druid and wasn't really able to test it out enough to get a real good feel for it. It did help on the initial pull, though. Shielding the tank just after engaging Ony allowed the tank to get position faster. I had to shield myself and the other healer to catch up with him. Speeding trees make for some good lulz. =)

On the 25-man, I tried to make it work and tank heal with limited success. When the tank called out to bring the groups together, the shield allowed him to snap the two together. BnS helped the stragglers get to the sides during Deep Breath (when I could find them) and allowed my tank (a DK) to reacquire quickly afterwards.

I wasn't able to really put the spec to task though, since the spec does not lend itself to tank healing well and there was another disc in the group that I was trying to mesh with. Needless to say, when focusing on single target heals, the spec leaves a lot to be desired.

We had a few dc's and I lost a tank during P2 =/. In the interest of the group, I went back to a normal disc spec to finish the raid.

I don't count it a failure, merely untested still. I need to have a MT healer to fill my spot before I can really give it a proper workout in a raid healing assignment.
