leveling unholyFollow

Hello all Im back with one of my silly nub questions on dks. I have been blodd up to this point leveling through outlands and it has been very easy and fun. AT 68 I decided to go to Borean tundra and not so much fun so my buddy suggested unholy, for something new and maybe faster kills ( I'm hoping) anyway was just wondering what my rotation should be while leveling unholy, what run should I use and all that good stuff, and if there's any talents that are vital to an unholy build.

Thanks in advance!

Unholy

If you really want change. Try out Frost DW DPS. It is fun, but different. I'm speced the 0/53/18.

Regarding leveling.

I have the 2h BoA axe which does not allow you to put a rune on it.

Is having the axe better or is having a 2h weapon I pick up which may be inferior to the axe with a rune on it better?

Rune a 2h Axe, run Recount, use BoA and kill some stuff.
Look at Numbers.
Change to Runed Axe, kill some more.
Look at Numbers.

Go with the BOA weapon.

Rune of the Fallen Crusader, while nice, only heals you for 3% and increases your strength by 15%. While leveling up, you're hopefully using a spec with some kind of self-healing (Blood, trust me). 3% will mean very little when you have all that yummy self-healing at your disposal (Blood, dammit!). You BOA weapon will increase in DPS and stats every single level up to level 80, increasing your damage output significantly. I have one on my Paladin and my Warrior and it's absolutely fantastic. At level 68 my Warrior's 1h BOA sword has almost the same DPS as some of the level 68 2h quest items you can get. It's crazy.

Also, don't be like the guy I saw in H-Gundrak with the level 70 blue axe and T8 armor. Your BOA weapon will serve you well until you can buy/loot something better.

He has another two levels to go before he even gets FC.

Go with the BoA. It's probably better.

I prefer unholy simply because of On a Pale Horse, and Improved Unholy Aura. You have 15 - 20% less distance to travel to hit 80, than Blood or Frost spec. I did keep heavy self-healing Blood as an offspec for dealing with tough elites though, juggling mark of blood, with vampiric blood and your tank CDs will be the bane of basically any group quest mob.

I don't think Imp Unholy Aura provides a 'movement' bonus for mounted. OaPH is pretty stand alone.

Just to play devils advocate, not to be rude;

Blood kills faster, and you have less downtime. Thus 15-20% faster than unholy...

You want to travel faster and not want to be alone and have a "friend" to stick by you at all times? Unholy.
You want to kill faster and be able to solo group quests and not worry about downtime? Blood.

I think in the end they both come down about the same amount of time played probably. Just a matter of preference.
