I don't think you're getting what I'm saying.

I Guarantee that you spell guarantee = guarantee

No one ever told Maz that he was 100% right, but we also agree that if you can't comprehend hug = stack = hump = group up, then you're not doing it right.

Playing several MMO's doesn't make u a pro, trust me. Having 5 80's doesn't either. Universal is used too loosely.

In my guild, the universal is hug. How about those apples? We downed bosses by hugging the tank for AOE heals. Crazy concept I know, but it everyone understood it.

The simple fact of the matter is that if you want to enter a conversation, have a little tact and try and not be a ****.

EDIT after your EDIT: You're not doing it right. Your argument has to be solid or you're not being a ****, you're being a douche.

EDIT x2: If I'm healing and the dps don't do what I tell them to do to facilitate my healing, I let them die. Is that a healing problem? Nope. That's a competency check.

Im not trolling stating simple fact. Hug has no meaning to 99% of MMO players in the sense it was used. All games use similar terms, in this instance saying stack on the tank or group on the tank would have solved all the problems. Hug is used in terms of nearing an inanimate object, such as "Hug the Wall". I have never once heard anyone refer to hugging a player as a term to stack in any mmo I have played, ever. Im not trying to make so and so feel bad. Im stating a fact that they are not 100% guilt free, and if they are going to QQ about something that was avoidable then they should at least make sure they are 100% guilt free before calling everyone else retards. I agree there is some stupidity, but honestly wtf is hug the tank, use real game terminology so people know wtf you mean right away and don't have to guess at what the hell you are talking about.

Seriously, not to sound rude or anything, but are you slow? I already mentioned that "hugging the tank" is a commonly used term on my server. I've been doing A LOT of heroics lately and the term is always "hug the tank" or "stand the f*ck closer together" - since I'm not prone to cursing in the game, I prefer the former.

The whole point to my thread wasn't that they misunderstood "hug the tank", because, seriously, they didn't. If they misunderstood it, then they'd be wearing their pants as hats, which, depending on their display settings, might've been the case, I'm not to say. The point was that they ignored the healer and then berated the same healer for not keeping them alive. Whether I said "hug the tank" or "stack on the tank" or "stand the f*ck closer" is completely beside the point. If it'll make you feel better in your tummy, I'll happily go back and edit my posts so it says "stack on the tank", but then I'm sure you'd find something else to berate me for.

Irony is humoristic enough to have you whine about me whining about someone whining about me.

Sometimes you just have to laugh.

Ps. If I had used "stack on the tank" instead of "hug on the tank", chances are just as many people in the group wouldn't have understood it. Sometimes you need to write something fast and you don't have time to write stuff like "Okay, chaps, you're taking a lot of AOE damage right now and you are standing too far away from one another to receive full benefit from my Wild Growth, thus adding to the already increasing stress factor of having to spam-heal five people who are all out of range of each other. Would you please move a little closer to the tank or the boss, preferably close enough for my Wild Growth to hit you all? The optimal range would be 15 yards from the tank, thank you. And yes, I am quite sure I know what I am talking about, because I am the one healing this crap."

And chances are, if I macro'd that wall of text and used it instead of "hug the tank!" three out of the four people in the group would just go "tl;dr" and the fourth would be like "soory i greek". I kid you not.

It's ten minutes to midnight. Smiley: dubious

Oh, I just realized the language barrier might've been the issue here. Perhaps "stack on the tank" is a particularly American expression while "hug the tank" is more European. I've ever only heard "hug the tank", so I honestly don't know.

That could easily be it (like I said, I've never been told to "hug" the tank--and I do play on US servers) or it could just be a server-specific thing, like HC/H/Heroic or Combine/Craft. Smiley: nod

I'm American, live on the east coast. I use all those terms interchangeably.

I don't play a lot of MMO's and I only have 3 80's.

I could be wrong, it's happened before.

I doubt it though I think I'm good.

Hug = hump = stack regardless.

I think IQ is the issue.

It's 5:57pm here now.

Almost done here.

That's... so pretty, Galen.

By the way, do you want me to abbreviate it Gale, Gal, Galen or Mr. Moon?

Gal doesn't sound right when you say it.

Gale makes me sound like a chick.

And although I did just get married IRL, Mr. Moon just sounds like I'm either a cow, or a stoner.

Aelius Galenus or Claudius Galenus (AD 129 – 200/217), better known as Galen of Pergamum (Greek: Γαληνός, Galēnos), was a prominent Roman physician and philosopher of Greek origin,

[1] and probably the most accomplished medical researcher of the Roman period. His theories dominated and influenced Western medical science for well over a millennium. His account of medical anatomy was based on monkeys as human dissection was not permitted in his time, but it was unsurpassed until the printed description and illustrations of human dissections by Andreas Vesalius in 1543.

[2] Galen's account of the activities of the heart, arteries and veins endured until William Harvey established that the blood circulates with the heart acting as a pump in 1628.

[3] In the 19th century, student physicians would still read Galen to learn some concepts. Galen developed many nerve ligation experiments that supported the theory, which is still believed today, that the brain controls all the motions of the muscles by means of the cranial and peripheral nervous systems.

[4] Galen wrote a small work called "That the Best Physician is also a Philosopher"

[5], and he saw himself as being both, which meant grounding medical practice in theoretically sound knowledge or "philosophy" as it was called in his time. Galen was very interested in the dispute between Rationalist and Empiricist medical sects,

[6] and his use of direct observation, dissection and vivisection in medical training and as a way to ground medical practice can be understood as considering both of those perspectives and constructing a more complex and nuanced middle ground that avoided problems with each position.

Totally encounter dependent IMO. *shrugs*

Avoidable DPS damage: i.e. standing in green goo, flame walls, next to an exploding corpse, etc. That's all the DPS's responsibility to avoid. The encounters aren't generally designed to have this be healed through.

Non-Avoidable DPS damage: Saph's aura, Ingis's pot, etc. These are the Healer's responsibility, the encounter is designed so that the healers can power through this.

In Mazra's example it seems like there were a lot of issues with the group. Standing close in P3 to help the heals isn't a bad idea once the "corpse-go-boom" threat is gone, and not an unreasonable request for a healer to make. I'm struggling to understand why they'd get close enough to get caught in the P2 corpse explosions, but then be too far away in P3 for WG to work well.

Mazra rhymes with Chazra and it happened to be my SWG name (Chazra Mazra). Also, apparently, it's a village in Israel and Blizzard nicked it to make a troll temple in Eastern Plaguelands.

You get 10 points for creativity, but I get 20 for picking a name used in the game before anyone had ever visited the place.

I play on Alliance side...

No, really. After P2 where pretty much every single one of them managed to get hit by a boom-ghoul, the Warlock ran to the other side of the Knight, the Boomkin ran around like a headless chicken to my right and, well, the DPS Warrior was dead from P2 and didn't resurrect until after the tank and I 2-manned the Knight. Funny thing is, it would probably have been better if everyone except me and the tank had run out and waited for us to two-man him. Or at least two of the DPS.

Oh, I don't remember if I got it into my original post, but the ghoul from P1 actually survived it all and was alive during P3, however that happened. I've seen it happen once more since then, but that was during a guild run and stuff, so, yeah, it died somewhere in P2.

I thought the first ghoul went boom when he dies in P1?

Woops, forgot to mention why that was relevant at all. The ghoul was completely ignored by the tank and was left chewing on my leg while I was trying to Nourish spam-heal everyone. 1.3 second cast time, but with a ghoul doing 1k-ish damage to me constantly, it was a ***** trying to keep everyone alive when no one was in range to benefit from Wild Growth. The Boomkin finally got a grip and took care of the ghoul before dying to the AOE damage crap, but by then I had already given up and was focusing on keeping me alive to keep the tank alive so we didn't wipe and had to redo the entire thing.

Galen Marek was a Human male taken as a secret apprentice by Darth Vader from his father, a Jedi named Kento Marek, on Kashyyyk during the Great Jedi Purge. For years, the Dark Lord trained him, under the codename Starkiller, in dark side arts and to eliminate his enemies, including Jedi who survived Order 66. Marek was told that he would ultimately assist in overthrowing Vader's own Master, Darth Sidious, Emperor of the Galactic Empire. In reality, Vader and Palpatine only planned to use him to root out those who rebelled against the Empire. In 3 BBY, fifteen years after the commencement of Marek's training, he had begun his missions to hunt down the last remaining Jedi.

AMG I KEEPZ IT COMING!

Galen Tyrol, often referred to as "Chief", is the highest ranking NCO remaining aboard Galactica. He served aboard battlestars from the age of eighteen, including Columbia, Atlantia, and Pegasus (Resistance). He has served under William Adama on Galactica for five years (Litmus), and has considerable respect for the Commander - a feeling that is reciprocated. Indeed, he admires Adama to such a degree that he has modeled his own style of leadership on that of Adama: firm, fair, and willing to go to the fullest degree in support of his crew.

Ah....brings to mind an old quote: -

If the Healer dies, it's the Tanks fault.
If the Tank dies, it;s the Healers fault.
If the DPS die, it is their own stupid fault.

Oh, and I have played on a US server and an Oceanic server in US guilds, in Aussie guilds, with European players, Asian players, US players & Aussie players (and the odd weird Kiwi's) and we have always used Hug the boss or tank with no problem. It would probably take me a couple seconds to figure it out if I was totally unfamiliar with the use, though, same as if someone yelled out "for heaven's sake, make love to the tank!!!"--it's not too hard once you think about it in context, but it does require taking the time to think.
