So, i haven't played my pally since WOTLK came out. I've been focusing on other things, but i've decided to pick back up again. That being said i notice a lot has changed since outland days and I have a few questions.
First, my pally has pretty good tanking/healing gear from Karazhan/Gruul. I used to MT and heal through Kara all the time. That being said I'm wondering what kind of dual spec to use as i level to 80.
On my server (as on most i assume) there is always a high demand for healers and tanks and i have the gear to run the northrend early dungeons as either if i'm specced (obviously) my question however is the viability of solo pve questing.
I've always heard that ret is the fastest solo questing build for paly. But with the changes to the prot tree i'm wondering if its a viable questing spec or if its basically still a "round em up and aoe them down" spec? With the changes in experience from quests/mobs i hear aoe grinding is not what it used to be. Also, when i leveled 60-70 i could heal almost all normal instances as ret in healing gear.. is this still an option in northrend? If so i was thinking dual speccing prot/ret (since tanking pretty much always required the spec for it) and possibly picking up some helpful talents to assist with healing..
My second option would be to dual spec prot and holy, but only if soloing as prot is efficient enough. Or possible ret and holy if it would be possible to tank as ret?
I'm basicaly aiming for a dual spec combo that will make me competitive for 70-80 normal instances. Since there aren't many groups for them, unless there is a healer/tank available. But still allow me to lvl easily.. If I have to I suppose i can pick either prot OR holy, but i'd like to do both if possible.
Any advice?
Oh also.. on a side note is SP no longer necessary for Pally tanking? I think i have roughly 660SP in tank gear/spec and i'm using a SP mace with a SP enchant. From what i've read though everyone seems to be going AP/Str enchants and more taditional tank stats on the 1h weap... just wondering if the whole SP tank mechanics have changed....
