Yet another gear question :: EverQuest II

I just reached level 79 and on my way to 80. At level 78 I created the Frostsavage set for myself. I was wondering how good is the Frostsavage gear? Should I already be looking for new pieces once I hit 80? Right now I am mainly just questing to level 80 and running through the Northrend 5-man instances. I am still using a staff, should I be looking for a sword and a off-hand? Are they better trinkets I should have? I do plan on changing one of my specs to Destruction once I hit 80.

Well the frost savage gear is PvP gear. If you are looking for PvE you may as well scrap all of them. Resilience is a useless stat in PvE.

If you are looking for some basic crafted gear go for the Ebonweave set. It's nothing special but it's a start. Other than that. Grind rep and just run heroics. Most of your gear is PvP so you have a long way to go to change it for PvE.

If you're looking to PvP, then yea you'r off to a good start. Just join WG when you can and farm BGs. You'll have the welfare epics in no time.

Since you've been already running 5-mans, once you hit 80, you should run lots of heroics which should get you a lot of nice gear upgrades. In particularly, TOC upgrades are very nice. You can also stock up on some emblems of conquest which will help. There is a lot of fast ways to gear up at level 80 in 3.2.

I use Pawn Ui, with the following scale (mostly cribbed from Elitist Jerks) for gear comparison. I have also placed the same scale into a personal custom comparison template here. I'm specced affliction, and your numbers may vary depending on level, spec, or whether you PvP or don't. These values seem to work fine for me.
