But the worst part of pvping as prot, at least in my experience? To maintain a mana value higher than.....zero you have to neuter your own heals by keeping divine plea up all the time.
this is the clincher, but also the fun part. you actually DO need to keep an eye on your mana. this is wear BoSanc and JoW come in. at some point you realize your mana is safe and you switch to JoL to start getting your health back.

You've got instant cast flash of light every 3 seconds or so, with a ~85% crit rate. So that's 4000-5000 heal crits every few seconds. Plus the baseline healing amount as a hot if you have sacred shield on yourself (which you always will). Oh, plus a FURTHER 60% of the crit heal as an additional hot.
it sounds simple enough, until your combat log says: Blocked, Blocked, Dodged, Dead.
in my experience, most Rets will see Prot as a non-threat and try to blow their load as if it were a targetting dummy, foregoing FoLs for Exo. by the time they realize this tank is doing 2.5k dps, a Hammer of Wrath comes flying their way.
don't get me wrong though. a well played Ret SHOULD beat a well played Prot 1v1 everytime. i also haven't tried Prot in arena, so i don't know. however, in BGs, for all intents and purposes, Prot will profit alot more no matter the objective.
