PvE and PvP castsequenceFollow

Been working on my castsequences for both PvE and PvP. Trying hard to understand DK and to do my best. I am on a PvP server but right the only PvP I do is World. I guess what I am trying to understand is should I maybe have two macros for this or can I get away with one for both. I know each situation is situational but have mostly everything keybinded and easily accessible. Both set ups are keybind to my up/down scroll wheel as this lets me spam it while still being able to move very well and able to use other abilities.

I am Unholy spec: Armory

PvE Castsequence:
IT > PS > BS > BS > SS > SS > DC > DC

Note: I usually have about 10 seconds left on diseases but I just go ahead and start the sequence over. I think I am suppose to have a second sequence. I think I can just add two more SS after the DC's. (thoughts?)

PvP Castsequence:
IT > PS > BS > BS > DS > SS > DC > DC

I have tried these castsequences on lvl 70 dummies and the PvP was pulling a little more DPS. I was in a hurry though so probably wasn't giving both my full attention or buffing for both (HoW, Trinket and Blood Fury). Both castsequences was making about 600-630 DPS on a lvl 70 dummy.

I replaced one of the SS for the DS in the PvP setup to try and get a more constant health regain while still dealing some damage. I found myself in the past scrambling for my DS keybind when I got low on HP after already blowing my "OH sh*t" macro (potion and Death Pact). I was getting 1400 Health back on the lvl 70 dummy target.

I dueled a lvl 70 Protect Paladin the other night with similar gear and gave him a run for his money. This though was with a slightly different PvP castsequence and did not include a DS. He finished the duel at 2500 health and 0 mana. He had about the same health as me, 9500 or so.

Just looking for opinions and guidance from more PvE and PvP gamers and curious on how others are setup. I tried reading the EJ thread but was info overload. The other sticky explained some things but not a lot.

See the sticky at the top.

Cast sequence is the worst in PvP. The game is too fluid for them to be effective.

Actually playing the game is fun, more rewarding and more effective.

Guess this was a pointless topic for the community. For me though, a PvP macro has been proving very effective but since it seems many don't do it then I am on my own in fine tuning it. Wasn't sure if others do something similar and was just fishing for tips.

I did read the sticky. Didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know. The famous word in all MMORPG games, everything is "situational" which is pretty much what the sticky says.

You might want to reread the stickies, particularly the one about why castsequence macros are bad for DKs. The problem isn't that everything is situational, but that a DK's ability cool downs don't line up nicely. To make matters worse gear, glyphs and talents all change how many runic power dumps you get and how often you need to refresh diseases. You can try and get a castsequence macro for pvp and pve, but there are insurmountable problems ahead of you. Also, you are right about only having half of the rotation, I believe that the rest is SSx3, DC until your runic power is too low to do more.

One final thought for you, while a rotation is what separates a good Death Knight from a window licker, being able to prioritize is what makes a great one.

Two more reasons that cast sequence fails in PvP.

Chains of Ice

Strangulate

As for tips; keybind everything, conditional macros are your friend, also x2 DC is often not enough of an RP dump which will result in wasted RP. Gaining RP when at full RP is usually a DPS loss.

edit:

Ok, normally I could care less about the whole rating thing on Alla but this time I feel I must say something. I linked 2 crucial DK abilities that use runes that are important PvP abilities and I got down rated. This was an attempt to show why a castsequence was macro was bad in PvP. It was also included with other helpful things that can and will help people PvP. Granted my 1st response wasn't as helpful but still.

I thought before today that the DK forum on Alla could actually have useful information; I was wrong.

There's one cast sequence that most non-Unholy Death Knights can benefit from, though:

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=180 Raise Dead, Death Pact

Will summon the ghoul and the next time you click it, it'll try to use Death Pact. If you cast Death Pact, or if you fail to use Death Pact within 180 seconds (3 min), it will show Raise Dead again.

Use it for my Frost build since the [pet] thing doesn't work when you don't have the perma-ghoul. If you have enough runic power to use Death Pact, spam-tap the macro and it'll sac the demon as soon as the global cooldown is up.

HAH! I thought I was all alone in this!

Solved the problem exactly the same way here, a castsequence for that is just drat handy and will work in any type of play.
