Interesting...I may buy dual-spec and try out Arcane.
On another note, in my "Coming back to raid" topic, it was mentioned that fireball is the top DPS spec for a Mage. So I was going to try and start gearing up accordingly (since I have no Ulduar gear, just near top Naxx stuff), but I was talking with another Mage and he seemed to be pretty against a Deep Fire build. But his argument seemed flawed, so I'll ask here. Will hitting fire and frost with FFB actually change my damage output? Fireball has a longer cast, but it hits harder, crits harder, and still supplies a DoT. The only issue is that it has no frost counterpart. But do bosses actually have any sort of resistance to fire or frost? If so, do I dual-spec into Arcane/FFB for these fights or something? I don't know - I was confused by his logic, and figured that if FB is the top DPS spec, I need to switch over now that I'm back into raiding already and start making a difference in the meters again (although sitting top 8 in Naxx vs all others in Uld gear isn't too terrible).
