I've been Blood for most of my leveling and life has been sweet to my Death Knight. However, I realize that Blood focuses a lot on physical damage since Death Strike and Heart Strike are both physical attacks, like Mortal Strike or Crusader Strike, compared to Scourge or Frost Strike from the Unholy and Frost talent trees.

My question is, does this warrant a talent respec? Is the DPS increase worth the lack of self-healing? How is the survivability using Frost and Unholy? I tried leveling up a bit with a Frost build, but having been used to Improved Rune Tap, Improved Death Strike and Bloodworms, I didn't like that my health went down and didn't get back up automatically.

What's your take on the builds in PvP scenarios (mostly Battlegrounds)?

i like going unholy/blood for bg pvp. something like this:

rune tap gives you a lot of survivability, scourge strike crits for 5-6k in starter gear with a TSD and you have the extra utility of the ghoul comboed with the constant move speed increase of imp UP. corpse explosion is nice for the psychological effect (GREAT fun in AV) and a combination of unholy blight, wandering plague and pest+blood boil means you can put insane pressure on healers in larger-scale combat.

I dont know anything about PvP so im not going to go there, but my guess is that unholy is the way to go *shrug*.

As far as leveling go, i leveled up unholy untill 71 i think, and then frost from there on. I didnt experience blood at all untill i was 80. I guess it all come down to what you are used to, maybe you are used to not seeing your HP drop below 90% while you quest and thats why frost/unholy seem different. I didnt have a single problem questing as frost. i'd just do what i call a 'healthy' fight every now and then and i'd be fine. A 'healthy' fight is when after killing 5 - 6 mobs i kill one only using diseases and death strike to heal up, once topped off i was good to go for a few more kills.

Once your in a spec for a while you find ways to overcome little problems. Thats the beauty, in my opinion, about DK talent trees: same class, but totally different ways to accomplish a same quest *happy sigh*.

Is the spec i currently use in BG's. The survivability is incredible, i can easily go a whole BG without a single death. Frost is capable of amazing burst damage, but in a BG with no healing you'll be dead before you can reach 130RP. As for unholy..I'm not sure, it didn't pack the punch of frost, or the survivability of blood.

I got tired of DK, but my favorite for BGs, WG, and World PVP was Theo's Frost-Blood build.

For Arena however Unholy is superior.
