Couple of big differences between the two.
First off is downtime. Enh by level 60 has exactly 0 downtime. By 0 I mean with some decent gear you never have to eat or drink, ever. If you have specced right you should have picked up feral spirit at level 60. So with good uses of shamanistic rage, feral spirit, and maelstrom procs you will always have mana and HP.
Ele by this time will also have reduced downtime, but not reduced down to 0. There will be times where you will have to drink some after large pulls or after many pulls in a row.
Next comes AoE ability. Since ele will have a more powerful chain lightning it seems like it will be your best spec to AoE mobs. However, the lack of snares and consistent AoE damage makes for CL being a pretty poor way to AoE mobs. Usually you'll get one CL off then have to deal with mobs beating on you while your totems burn them down and try and cast through the damage.
Enh has no AoE except for totems and some CL maelstrom procs. But with the ability to insta heal and HoT heal with wolves you can stand in a pack of mobs and mow them down quickly 1 by 1 without the fear of pushback, stopping to heal, or taking much damage.
Then comes the all important survivability. As much as I've played with ele rotations, enh wins hands down. There was very little I couldn't kill while questing as enh. Self insta heals, HoT heals, reduced damage while gaining mana, all will allow you to kill just about anything. In Northrend I was able to solo every mob save for one of the 3 elites in Dragonblight. Even the large bear in Grizzly Hills was no problem. Add in a hunter with you and you two will be a questing machine.
Last is gear. Since you will be running with another mail wearer, then your right in thinking that you two will both be using the same gear if you go enh. If he stays using 2h weapons then that leaves you to take any 1h upgrades, and that's where your biggest DPS increase will be comming from. Ele will allow you to wear cloth along with leather and mail, so your gear choices will increase.
There's your pros and cons from my perspective. But like Redbarron said, I'd try them both out and see what you like more. If you have the extra G then duel spec and switch whenever you feel like it. GL
