A good 2h tanking weaponFollow

As the subject says was wondering what all you tanks are using? Right now I'm using vile's ugly stick since it has a good parry rating on it. I know its a green but I cant find a rare or epic with defense or dodge or parry ratings on it. When dpsing I use death's bite?

Like Therion said, just pick up a TSD off the AH. It is a bit pricy, but it'll really make your life easier.

In general, DK tanks want three things from their weapons:

1. Slow and hard hitting. This gives us a greater return on our Rune Strikes and all of the Weapon-modified attacks. More threat is always nice.

2. Stamina. This isn't as important as number 1, and you can get by without it, but 2-handers with Sta usually offer over 1K more health. Which is just dandy.

3. Other useful stats. This generally translates into Strength, AP, Hit or Expertise. Strength and Expertise are the most useful (the other two are still really good, though).

DKs just don't use tanking weapons. Blizz has made it clear they probably won't add tanking 2-handers (or many of them) because they don't want all DK tanks using the same few weapons (or feeling like they have to). Just use the best one you can find with the above stats.

To be clear: Weapon speed (i.e. "slow" for 2-handers) is a byproduct of itemization rules and is only a rule of thumb. You actually want the weapon with the highest median hit (quick math: DPS x Speed = weapon median). This is true of a ton of melee abilities (all Strikes for instance).

And don't over-look Agi as a nice side dish.... dodge is nice =)

I found that so many of the weapons already have Agility that I only use it to break ties (in the sense that the items are really close in value and I want to see which is better). But, yes, you are right--Agility is nice. In general, it seems (keyword, I have not really looked into the matter) they have those three stats then one of: Crit, Expertise, Hit.
