My Character, I am currently in top 250 US guild, new guild is 34th US, 84th world.

The Feedback

Quote:
Armory back up. It's interesting to see a paladin properly geared since most of them don't.

Few minor crits / feedback:
1. I'd never wear 4 piece 8.5 as standard unless I was 51/20/0 for the sacred shield boost. It's a decent set bonus but just isn't worth giving up some really good items in chest / leg slot instead of the trash Blizzard fed us.

2. POJ is nice, but giving up the minimal boot enchant for 2% healing is pretty good. You can put tuskarr's on your boots then and have the speed (most of it) and 15 stam (since hard modes reward higher HP)

3. Poverty bracer enchant for near-BIS bracers (hodir hardmode ones are attainable now, but.. meh :P)

I want to come back to a thread I created earlier in the week. Focus on Crit/Haste gear, avoid Mp5 like the plague. Gem Int exclusively. Insightful as your meta, avoid 2% Int. This IS what you should be doing with your Paladin. Elitist Jerks says it, armory the top pallies in game and they are doing it. Gear/Stat wise the focus is very clear. I have guild mates in my previous guilds who made mistakes, with meta, gems, or even by stacking Mp5. They couldn't keep up to me, and its not like I am using Seal of Light. A lot of that is that I have a lot of raid experience and am really comfortable and learn quickly but if you want a one up while you build your experience and transverse the learning curve, quit arguing and gear/gem right!!!!

Im just glad to see that I am not massively behind you gearwise.

Something I was wondering, do you top healing meters? Should I be concerned that I dont? The Druid in my guild absolutely hammers me and the Circle of Healing priests beat me as well.
Sure if I pug VoA or Sarth I usually top the meters, but I know that is because I am against inferior healers, is it reasonable to expect a Paladin to compete against equally geared Druids etc?
And yes I know healing meters are not a good indicator of skill or gear.

Anyway, back to you, congrats on your guild. But ewww youre a Mooncow!!

I can push any rest druid in the game on healing without dropping Seal of Light. However, its a matter of knowing the fight. If I have a healing target, say whoever is tanking Steelbreaker I will keep them up 100% and if I can get a Holy Shock etc I will but my focus is keeping a tank at 100% on a boss that can hit for 25k non crit white damage on medium or hardmode.

A lot of that is just experience. Learning how to position, gauging spike damage and being able to predict it, creative beacon of light use. Also having a UI that you are familiar with and dont have to think about how to Dispell or Bop you just do it.

Grats bod, that really is a great achievement. I know you spend a lot of time and effort and frustrations into your character to make him the best he can be, and now it's showing that you definitely know what you are talking about, and i really liked that guide you wrote a week ago. I know this is a big achievement for you, for anybody really, and I'm sure you will be a great asset to your guild. Have fun, and maybe now the other healers will give you a run for your money :P

Aww, 4-piece T8. I only lucked out on one so far.. I NEED that set for my Divine Guardian spec. I should kick my guild into gear. I only have 10 conqueror emblems and one Ulduar item.

And then when we run Naxx with other guilds, I still lose Soul of the Dead, the KT ring, AND the KT shield twice in a row!

Good luck in your new guild.

woot, grats Bode. that's awesome to hear. 250 US to 84th world is quite a move up.

and yeah, I took your advice from your post on gearing as far as gemming. went from about 22k mana to 24k mana. in ulduar 10 last night I blew our resto druid and our disc priest away in heals (even including absorbs from the priest bubbles) and was the only one that didn't ever have mana problems. this was on my ret pally's holy dual spec too after our top geared pally healer had to leave.

so thankyou for the advice. its fun switching from topping the dps meters to topping the effective healing meters... loving ulduar... its actually fun to heal even lol.

Congratz Bohdi, don't think I'd ever wanna play at your level nor could I but it's fun to hear from you how it is from your post. Not alot of skilled/top ranked players take the time to help and post the random masses.

Just don't forget to look out a window sometimes or go play with your brothers baby.

Have fun!

Wasn't your advice in your other thread to use Tuskarr's Vitality and drop POJ for 2/5 Divinity?

And yet you didn't do that?

Let me add my congrats here Bod. I know how much work is involved to attain my paltry level of success, so your accomplishment should give you some real satisfaction.

And while I'm at it, thanks for all the help over the past two years, even if you didn't know you were giving it to me.

I second guessed myself, I had Tuskarrs and 2% healing and changed it last second.

I looked at their site hoping to see them tearing into Bode's app. No such luck. :(

I did see this question and thought it was hilarious and was curious as to how you answered. I will give my answer as well as the question is just that amusing.

Oh, come on. Healing is fun! I mean, I have two PvE healing specs on my paladin, and a level 70 Disc Priest I'm still working on.

In last night's 10-man ulduar, I did 10% less healing than the holy priest, 10% less "Guessed absorbs" than the disc priest, and enough overhealing to have 50% of the total. Without beacon. I love huge numbers..

You can't just give up, you'll learn to like it.

So, when's your first raid with the guild? And if you've already done it, what are your impressions?
#16 May 19 2009 at 2:24 PM Rating: Decent
Gratz Bodh. I had a couple of questions in terms of my holy pally.
1. Healing meters
- I recently had done arachnid/plague quarter with a guild who needed an extra healer. I'm not sure if it was because they didn't know how good of a healer I was or if they had pre-determined healing assignments but they wanted me to heal 2nd OT (yeah that's right, 2nd OT). Now I was a new transfer so I was geared well beyond anyone else in the 25-man group. I saved my comments because I was a guest on their run. Anyway, the MT pally healer prided himself on topping the healing charts and everyone seemed focused on the numbers they were putting out. After a big trash pull or boss fight, the meter would come out and they'd all comment etc. Of course, I'm on the bottom of the list because for whatever reason I am healing the 2nd OT, who rarely took damage. I watched the MT pally healer and it seemed he just shot out HL evrytime, no matter how much damage the MT was taking. I know that's why he was topping the chart and i sat their looking like a nub. Anyway, their setup work and we cleared both wings relatively easy (this was their first run through so there were a couple wipes)
How much to people look into these meters?
Was I wrong to sit back and stick with my assignment or should I have poured on the useless healing and blown them away?

2. Stacking int gems
- I've read everywhere that this is the thing to do, but is it still the thing to do when you don't have a full-compliment of buffs to maximize the potential? Right now I'm stacking SP/Crit because I don't have a set-raid group that I raid with regularly so it's always a mixing pot of classes. I haven't had an issue with going oom or not being able to keep heals up. Should I keep my current setup until I see a little more Ulduar action (new server so mostly guild rerolls running for firsts)
