Question about RawrFollow

#1 May 05 2009 at 1:21 PM Rating: Decent
Is there a way that Rawr can help you tweak your build to do the most damage? I'd really like to know whether my 3 points in SotM help increase my DPS by a decent amount with crit relying on spirit now, or if there's someplace I could put those three points in that would be better? I've tried looking over the EJ Arcane thread, but it's so long now it's difficult to find the answers to this question without directly asking. I did see some posts on how giving up points in Arcane Mind and putting them in SotM isn't a good idea, but I haven't done that.

I believe in the drop down menu you can go by dps increase by talent/talent point.

For arcane sotm doesn't give as much of a dps increase as it would for fire (because of the crit scaling) but it would still give some dps if you have points to spend. I would gnerally just check out the first post of the various threads and read through the posts, then go to the last 5-ish pages (or around the date that the patch was released and read forward) and that gets me caught up pretty well.

All right thanks, I'll look into that.

Interesting. Apparently my custom build gives about 10 more dps than the typical arcane build. The only thing I've really changed is no points in Arcane Stability or Magic Attunement and 3 points in SotM and 1 in Slow instead. It's not a big difference, but it is a difference. :-)

after reading through the last few pages of the ej thread I'm considering investing 2 points into incanters absorption and points from ice shards into frost warding.

That does look interesting. I don't really understand why Arcane Stability is necessary in PvE though. Theoretically, you shouldn't be getting hit in a raid, so you shouldn't need that talent, right? The Incanter's Absorbtion talent with Frost Warding looks pretty cool though, although I don't typically use the warding spells, so it would take some getting used to to have to remember to use those spells. Is that spec only useful in Ulduar or will it be useful in other raids or heroics too?

you won't be getting hit by melee very often, but there are a LOT of AoE things that deal damage to you (think frostbolts on kel'thuzad and so forth)
