Mutilate feels slow to me :/

I specced mutilate last night after picking up a 2nd dagger, leveling my 74 rogue

Even though I killed things just as fast, 60 en mutilates as a main attack seemed slower paced to me than 40 en sinister strikes with +25% energy regen from Vitality.

Also, it sucked because the mobs were dying too fast for me to make effective use of HfB and CttC :/


And while blind (although highly unnecessary- the mobs are so easy in NR generally) is fine for killing two mobs, BF just does it much faster.

I'm sticking to combat, at least until 80.

But does it really matter if they are dying faster?

As much as I miss BF I must say I would rather be killing mobs faster even if I wasted a few combo points etc. A faster kill is a faster kill. My biggest prob with the switch to Mute Spec is I have to pick my fights more carefully.

Rogue = Sneaky & Carefully lol

I know what you mean Theo about the speed of Combat Spec as I am finding Mute is faster with the mobs I have encountered since my respec. But it's not half as slow as jumping to a lvl 26 Pally Alt with a 2 Handed Hammer as a weapon!!!

When I can afford the Dual Spec fee I will have Combat Fists to use as well depending on the fight/mob/situation I am up against. Nothing like giving an evil Mob a major fisting!

Question: I just hit 50 and respecced Mutilate. I'm doing Theo's combo of Cs --> Poisons up ---> Mut x2... but usually the mob has like 60% health left at that point. Is that typical? Would it help more fighting green mobs as opposed to yellow ones?

Mutilate is interesting, but feels slower so far. I might just not be used to it yet, but I REALLY notice all those misses that Precision helped out with.

Depends. How are you specced?

I'd do this.

CS -> mut x2 -> KS -> mut x2.

That's my exact spec, except I have points in focused attacks instead of Imp KS. I also did the same sequence; just seems like it takes a bit of time to get the energy back up. It'll probably be better if I take on easier enemies. I still need to redo my glyphs, however. Mutilate and Vigor? Or Eviscerate?

Mut and Vigor are the best glyphs, IMO. Having 120e base for burst is pretty huge.

Well, I had some more experience with Mutilate and I love it. The burst is insane. I can end fights in a few seconds as long as I pick weaker enemies. For example, I leveled 51-52 in the Blasted lands for those damn collection quests (basilisk brains never drop!). The enemies varied from 46-52. I would hit CS --> Mutilate (usually crits if I had Remorseless Attacks up) --> Eviscerate --> Mutilate ---> if not dead, 2-3 point eviscerate. On the weaker enemies I found that Ambush was a better opener than CS, because they did less damage and my first eviscerate would end it.

Also, Glyph of Vigor is level 70, so I'm going with Mutilate/Eviscerate. It's pretty awesome.

On tougher enemies (ie, 53s) it worked out ok too but I did lose a little more health (20% or so). The only trouble I had was getting 2 enemies at a time; that would call for a bandage after. If I picked on green enemies I never would have to bandage; running enemy to enemy and my Swift Hand of Justice were just enough to keep me topped.

I like it. I feel like the rogue version of a mage's glass cannon. Tons of damage, but more risk.

Redid my spec to that originally suggested a few posts above & I am wiping equal mobs CS-Mut-Mut-Evis and not taking a hit unless I have a miss & then I just use another Mut and they are down.

Having a blast using Mutilate Spec, thanks to everyone who helped with info.

I got a few days off work so hope to get to lvl 70 by the end of the week.

I think your point would be much better off in Precision. If you're not taking a hit, why reduce damage? Besides, Deadened Nerves does nothing to help you kill faster, which is what rogues are really all about (and how they best avoid damage).

Here's my question: why are you guys doing Mut x2? I usually find that, if Remorseless Attacks is up, I have 2x combo points from my opener, then 3x from a critted Mut. Why Mutilate again? It seems like a waste when you already have 5x combo points. Better to hit Eviscerate and then Mutilate again before Overkill drops? Then wait a couple of seconds, and the 2-3x CP eviscerate should finish the enemy off.

Yeah, you're right, Locke. I do my openers so naturally now that I guess I don't actually think about using my finishers.
