Apples to oranges. Take a look at your damaging attacks lists for the two builds. Blood has a few, high-percentage attacks whereas Unholy has several, more evenly ranged damage sources. Looking at only the main strikes for both builds is an unfair comparison. SS isn't supposed to hit as hard as HS, Oblit or DS because of its other damage sources.
Right now I'm not seeing a huge disparity between DS (for Blood builds) and Oblit (for Frost) when properly glyphed. Frosts issues aren't with Oblit sadly. There is a distance between DS and SS but overall damage is very close. At least, in my testing they are.
The point I meant to make, and upon re-reading I realize I failed epicly, is that Blood scales much better with gear than the others, because most of its attacks use a high percentage of the main-hand weapon. So, when their AP gets higher and their weapons get better, I can imagine nothing else being able to compete on single targets (I'm JUST talking about bosses here, because WP and UB can get pretty epic pretty fast for Unholy).
So, it just feels like every end-game DK DpS, minus one per raid, will be Blood in the top-end guilds. And that final one is only for Ebon Plague (which can be offered by an Unholy tank). Plus, Blood gets +BB (I believe) which is a pretty amazing boost to a pretty amazing ability (in its current form, in my opinion).
I just really want to see all three specs become competitive in terms of DpS at all levels. I understand this is INCREDIBLY hard to balance, but it is still a wish. Sure, Blood can be the highest single-target DpS. But I don't want to see Frost and Unholy lag behind far enough that it prevents players from going that route if they want to. Same thing with Blood and AoE.
(And, yes, I KNOW it is like this for all classes. I have the wish for them, too. But, many other classes can fulfill two or more roles, making the competition for DpS less intense between the two remaining specs. Although, I feel for certain classes that really have 1 raid, 1 PvP and 1 solo/raid DpS tree far more than with DKs.)
I'm just worried for the long run.
