Okay, so I haven't done that many heroics, but I've noticed that for the most part I tend to be on the bottom of the DPS charts, which is really frustrating. Especially after I spent over 600g on different blues and gems after my first couple of heroics. You can check my armory from the link in my sig. I'm in mostly blues with one epic and three greens. I keep my rotation with what is posted here and the Arcane mage site that Anobix posted from Stratfu: ABx2 and then AM unless I'm low on mana and then I do ABx3 and AM. My DPS is right about 1k. Do I just need to get better gear, or is there something else I can do to improve?

The trick to high DPS in heroics is twofold:

On trash, if there are more than two, AoE must you.

On bosses, if win DPS you must, it's all cooldowns or bust.

Oh, and if you don't enchant more of your stuff, you've wasted a lot of the gold you spent on these things. Enchants add up.

Okay, thanks Poldaran. I've been hesitant to use AoE because of fear that I'll steal hate, although since I have Omen I suppose that's not as much of an issue since I can always hold back or use one of the many hate reducing tools we have. As far as enchants go, I figured it would be a waste of money to purchase enchants on gear I'll be replacing soon, and I was saving up for my epic flying. I finally got that yesterday, so now saving money won't be as much of an issue. I'll definitely look into that.

Be careful with Omen. When you use AoE, Omen does not show the threat because of multiple targets, at least that is what I have seen by using it.

Also, you need to get your hit up, but that will come with getting better gear. Hit should be your first priority, then spell power, then haste. If you aren't hitting 100% of the time, your DPS will suffer.

Sometimes it's easier to spec FFB until you have the gear you need for Arcane spec.

Hope this helps a lil and good luck!

Indeed. The best thing to have for AoEs isn't Omen. It's range and an itchy trigger finger ready to hit Ice Block, Invis(especially if you have it instant with Arcane talents) or Mirror Image.

Yeah, I kind of noticed that tonight. My group got through the first boss in UK tonight, but then one of our DPS DC'd and we couldn't find a replacement because it was late. I used Blizz a few times and twice I died, although one of those times was because the healer couldn't get the tank into LoS and the tank ended up dying.

I went ahead and got all the enchants that you and Anobix have Poldaran. Except I got 50 spellpower for my weapon instead of 63. Now I just need to run lots and lots of heroics to get my Kirin Tor rep up for the head enchantment, and for better gear in general. I've been doing the Oracle dailies for three or four days now so I can get the shoulder enchant from them. Or do they have the trinket? I need to go to bed, it's late lol.

So yeah, thanks for the advice, both of you. We'll see if it makes a difference tomorrow night.

My take on generic AoE dps:

The first AoE pull, hit mirror image, then blizzard away. You won't pull hate unless the mobs take too long to die. If that looks to be the case, then pop invis before your images die.

When mirror images are on cooldown, I will single target focus one mob, usually whatever the tank is hitting until the tank has appropriate aggro on all. Then blizzard away.

Have your iceblock button handy at all times. It has saved my butt far too many times for me to count. Same goes with mirror image. Invis is tricky because in order for it to work you can't be taking any damage, so make sure that you don't waste it.

FYI no matter what (even if the images die when spawning) you get the threat reduction for the 30 seconds.

That is an awesome idea, thank you! I did try and hit IB, but I got hate and was nearly one shotted, so I didn't really have time to hit it, especially when the tank died roughly the same time.
