I have a level 80 dk tank and have been tanking with this spec. Another dk in my guild recommend this spec. What do you guys feel about both builds. Thoughts, input. Thanks for the help.

I hate your friend's spec. It's so pointlessly scattered all over the place. From what I gather, it is based around Oblit and Icy Touch, but sacrifices Heart Strike (the reason why Blood is competitive in the first place). Furthermore, thost Oblits won't even create Death Runes so your single target rotation will be much weaker.

It chooses to take Vampiric Blood, the most worthless of our tanking ability talents. Rune Tap doesn't provide any threat, so it isn't really good, unless your healer is terrible. Mark of Blood is nice, but can be provided by any Blood DK (and your strategy shouldn't rely on it). That build sacrifices a LOT just to get an extra 3% dodge and some magic damage reduction.

And it doesn't even take Lichborne, which rocks right now (until 3.1).

Yours is fine (did you design it yourself or take it from the EJ FaQ)?

Personally, I don't like Morbidity. I have never felt like a 15 second DnD was necessary. Diseases + Wandering Plague + Unholy Blight with a DnD every 30 seconds should be more than enough. At most, I would put 2/3 into it, to make it a 20 second CD (and more closely fit the rotation).

Garg is hard for me to pass up for only one point. I know it isn't personal TpS or mitigation, but it is a nice thing to have for soloing/helping with burst. Also, I never have enough RP problems to bother with Dirge. It is only 10-15 more RP per set of runes. That isn't even a whole Rune Strike. And, without Garg, it is especially unnecessary (in my opinion).

Same thing for the Perma Ghoul. I like it too much to pass up, even if it isn't personal TpS. The ability to off tank an add I see coming if fitting him into the group is too complicated is priceless. Plus he has a stun. And I will always have something around to Death Pact.

I also don't understand why people pass up AMZ. For 1 point, it seems like a great ability to me. Not so much because of the AoE, but because it gives me another mitigation technique.

If you aren't liking your build, play around with it. Tanking builds are rarely as cookie-cutter as DpS ones, because our goals are more complicated. How you go really depends on your guild's make-up, your skill and what you will be taking.
