So I read the new WotLK version of the Greatest Mage Post Ever and saw that the magesock hadn't gotten around to the leveling portion of it yet.

I am leveling a mage right now, currently level 14.

Here's what I'm planning on doing as far as where I'm putting my talents, which by the way will be straight frost til 60 or so.

10-14---- Imp Frostbolt (this one is obvious)
15-17----Frostbite (frozen mobs don't get to hit you)
18-19----2/3 in Ice Shards (extra damage on crits? yes please)
20---------Icy Veins (very nice for when you get into a jam or want to try to solo a tougher mob)
21---------3/3 Ice Shards (see above)
22-24----Elemental Precision (missed spells do no damage ^.^)
25-27----Shatter (this is the big one, basically turning Frostbite and Ice Shards into lethal talents)
28-29----Arctic Reach (sould allow you to get in 1 more Frostbolt before a mob reaches you)
30--------Cold Snap (at this level it's only good for Frost Nova, but you're gonna want it later)
31-33----Piercing Ice (more damage from Frost spells? Hell yeah!)
34--------1/3 Frost Channeling (you need a point to get to the next tier, and this is the best option available)
35-37----Winter's Chill (self-explanatory)
38-39----3/3 Frost Channeling (more filler talents, could also choose Cold as Ice here)
40---------Ice Barrier (huge for survivability)
41-44-----4/5 Arctic Winds (again nothing wrong with more frost damage)
45-46----Empowered Frostbolt (more damage and more crit on my main nuke? where do I sign up?)
47-48----Fingers of Frost (shatter combos on chilled mobs is teh secks)
49---------5/5 Arctic Winds
50---------Water Elemental (Do I even need to explain this one?)
51-53-----Improved Water Elemental
54----------1/3 Ice Floes (It's filler, but it's highly useful filler)
55-59-----5/5 Chilled to the Bone (more damage and a better snare? I love the frost tree)
60-61-----3/3 Ice Floes (if you're gonna stay frost, this is where i would spend my points)

I am considering going Arcane at 60, but I may end up switching back to Frost. I do know my last 19 talent points would end up in the Arcane tree though, I just haven't decided exactly where yet.

Opinions on the spec? Did I skip anything vital? Did I take anything that makes you go, "Huh"?

Also, where should the 19-21 points in Arcane go? Other than Arcane Concentration I'm not entirely sure what talents in Arcane are helpful to a frost build.

you didn't take anything that looks strange, although I would probably take icefloes earlier for faster frost nova cooldown and such.

for future reference I recommend going to wowhead.com and putting together a talent calculator and just linking the tree every 10 levels or so that you fill it out.

oh, and I nor Poldaran (the two magesocks) most likely will not put together a leveling guide, as we stated. We are happy to give a helping hand with questions, but I hate to just say "here, spec this" as there are always changes to talents and such.

I thought about Ice Floes. The only thing is I can't see anything before level 27 that I would give up for it. 27 is the point at which you get Shatter, and after that it just seems like solo mob killing sould be so easy that Ice Floes becomes kind of an idiot proofer to an extent.

I don't know I'll have to look at everything again when I get home.

The only 2 things I know I want to have are the points up to 27 how I have them and have Water Ele at 50. I'll figure it out I suppose.

Edit: In regards to the wowhead calculator, it acts really wonky here at work, or I definitely would have done that. Sometimes the trees don't pop up, sometimes they pop up but I can't click on any of the talents, and sometimes it makes me reboot my whole laptop.
