So, my DPS is stuckFollow

First of all my armor profile,

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Shandris&n=Knokne

My problem is that I seem to be unable to increase my DPS whatsoever. When I first went into Naxxramas I was capable of reaching just a little under 3k DPS with numerous blue items in my set. After upgrading the vast majority of these items to at a minimum heroic epics, and a good number of naxx epics, my DPS rose to just a little over 3k, not usually more than 3.1-3.2 In many cases it didn't seem to change at all.

My rotation stayed the same as always: Keep up Mangle and Savage Roar, always prioritize a 5 pt Rip finisher and Bite whenever both rip and roar have a long duration left. Rake if its not up or about to fade, otherwise Shred. This seems like what most people recommend for optimal DPS.

So, I'm very confused as to what I am doing wrong to have leveled out my DPS at this point. Looking at parses I see some druids managing nearly 7000 DPS in 25 naxx, but I can't even touch that with a 10 ft pole. Can people give me some advice on rotation, gear upgrades (besides my blue helm, epic helms hate me), or any other tips they think could help me out?

I'm exactly at the point where you were pre-Naxx, and I just missed 3k DPS in my first Sarth 25 man with an extremely sloppy rotation. As far as pointers go:

-- Your hit rating is just too low. You're better off yanking out some of your +16 strength gems in favor of a few Rigid Autumn's Glow. From a pure theorycraft standpoint, what you have now is superior, but in practice you need the 8%. If you have a situation where you're frozen for a period of time and timers start to fall off (the best example that I have is King Ymiron, and that's not even a good one), then a chain of unlucky misses can really do you in. We have a strict rotation, anything you can do to make your life easier will help your DPS out.
-- Make sure FFF or some form of armor debuff is up. I'd imagine it is, but you didn't mention it, so it can never hurt to be certain.
-- Also attempt to make sure that you're using Shred with OoC procs, this is a lot easier said than done but should provide a slight increase.
-- There are several useful programs and tools out there to help you with gear upgrades, particuarly Rawr and Toskk's spreadsheet on the Druid Wiki.

Right now, if you were to change both your gems on your chest piece to +16 hit, you'll gain about 0.8% hit chance for what Rawr says will be an unbuffed difference of ~3-5 DPS (theorycrafted). I can't stress enough how important this minor difference will be versus raid bosses.

If you have the money, a Titanium Impact Band and Band of the Kirin Tor are some pretty substantial improvements over what you currently have.

A lot of the gear you have now is actually either BiS or close to it for 10 man raids (according to Rawr), so I'm afraid there's not much else to say here. Except get a new helm ;) You also shouldn't be able to get anywhere near 7k DPS right now, that's top-end feral druids on ideal fights with an almost perfect rotation and probably full BiS gear.

As a side note: Last I checked, some of the number crunching on EJ was showing that Agility is going to rise back to the top of our desired stats come 3.1, primarily because Rip and Rake will soon be able to crit. I recommend saving up and hoarding some +16 agility gems before the prices rise.

One of these days I plan on starting an all-around Druid guide. My experience has been that there's just not enough easily accessible information about us out there, it's all bits and pieces from a large variety of sources. Experienced sources, and it certainly pays off in the long run, but it can be difficult.

I wouldn't use the term BiS in this case though, since it's not actually BiS, so I find it kinda confusing.

Shoulders are arguably BiS, with 2 other very similar options.
Chest is also pretty much BiS, with perhaps Indulgence as an alternative and Recluse as an upgrade.
Wrists are BiS, with Sinner's as an alternative.

The rest of your slots have a couple upgrades. Of course some aren't that major, but still.
But yeah, I wouldn't expect much over 3k DPS if you're not geared in mostly 25-man gear.

I'll also agree that you should try to reduce your miss chance a bit too. You're not missing much, 1.38%, but it would be worth it to use a few more gems to reduce it further.

Speaking of hit rating, what is the hit cap numbers?? I've stacked agility and crit rating enough to have 7k ap and 50.58% crit but have left my hit rating in the dump. So I'm looking to sacrifice some crit for some hit, I'm a poet and I didn't even know it.. Sorry. So anyways, anyone know the numbers or a link where they are - for feral btw.

Melee hit rating.
Basically you need 8% regardless of class as long as we're talking physical damage, it will simply vary if you have talents to improve it.

Spell hit rating. If you're curious.

Go to your character sheet and hover your mouse over the hit rating number, it will show you the % equivalent.

Rawr don't make Selverin angry, you wouldn't like him when he's angry! His fur stands on end and he begins to resemble a giant green sheep with purple bike shorts!

Listen to selverin, he knows what he's talking about.

Of course listening to me would probably be a worse idea.

If I may note, it is highly likely that those 7000 DPS figures in heroic Naxx you're hearing about are from Recount reports for single multi-mob fights conveniently padded with a generous helping of cat form swipe. That 7000 is an easily reachable amount on many of the AOE trash pulls there. I've gone as high as 20,000 DPS on them :-P

Of course, I have this nasty habit of blowing all my cooldowns on such AOE trash pulls just so I can see the huge DPS figure which I then link in raid chat. Berserk + Swipe + a few lucky OOC + a few lucky crits and my screen becomes filled with yellow numbers. FILLED. Sadly my single target DPS will never be as good. Depending on the fight I do as low as 2500 DPS and as high as 4500 DPS. On fights where we receive buffs (Thaddius, Loatheb for example) that figure can easily get into the mid 5000's, and I'm pushing top notch gear with capped hit rating.

In reality Riftaru your DPS will NEVER be as good as a pure DPS class. It just won't happen, and the reason being is you're a utility class. A hybrid. You can, and typically most likely often do, serve multiple purposes in any given raid. You bring battle rez, innervate, spot healing, spot tanking, reasonable CC, all wrapped up in a conveniently furry little package (if you're a boomkin then it's a giant feathery package).

I've resigned myself to the reality that I will never be as good as equally geared rogues, hunters or fury warriors (another partial hybrid class). But they don't bring the things I do to the table, and I'm fine with it, because any one of those classes can easily be replaced in my guild's raids if need be. But at the end of the day, the healers love my innervate, the careless noobs love my brez and the dead tanks love my bear form.

I completely concur with Tavarde statements. We are a utility class that brings multiple functions to a raid. Last night was a prime example. We were doing our 10 man Naxx run, that we have on farm, and I had to do most of the things he mentioned. I run as kitty for the most part, but I always tank one of the back bosses on the Four Horsemen. When the off tank died during KT at the end of the night I was able instantly swap to Bear and start tanking the boss and when the adds came out the MT picked them up and I took over on KT. None of the other "pure" DPS classes offer this flexibity which why I love being a Druid.

As for DPS number my results are very similar to what Tavarde posted. In 10 man I go from doing 3k plus on bosses like Patchwerk, Loathab, and Thaddius, to under 2500 on bosses like Globbulus. In the spider wing on the trash I usally do fantastic due to a quick Mangle, SR, then Swipe/TF until my fingers bleed :)

Actually the 7000 was on WWS parses from a specific boss fight, but thinking about it the 7000 was on Anub, where there could have been a ***** up releasing a massive number of tiny critters to be Swiped down, but it seems unlikely even several moments like that could artifically inflate DPS that much.

I suppose this issue is getting to me so much because at the start of Wrath, I was generally higher than pure DPS classes when we both started in blues. However, in naxx epics I've scaled up about 600 DPS in the mean time, while they've scaled up a couple thousand, from the low 2k to mid 4k range.

But there's always room to improve (weapon..I still can't believe I saw 2 Inevitable Defeats drop within 10 minutes of each other and don't have one equipped now, and that blasted blue helm), and we will finally have 3 real DPS glyphs come 3.1.

Just because a hybrid tax might mean I can't beat pure DPS if we both play perfectly doesn't mean I should stop trying too.

On a completely random sidenote: Does anyone else always have Rawr crash upon loading their character from the armory...?
