I've recently tried playing my baby paladin, and must say that the FAQ I looked up was loaded with acronyms, which means, within very few lines, I was completely lost and had absolutely no idea what they were talking about. (the Hunter FAQ DOES seem to do away with this excessive use of abbreviation, thankfully).
Maybe the way the FAQ is written isn't that obvious to everyone?
I, for example, have no interest in high-end raids nor arena. There have been times I've tried to get a bit of info in a more "basic" format, but had to face mountains of rather cryptic mathematical formulae and assumptions that the reader was in fact interested in raiding and arena.
Maybe what our FAQ needs at this point is a breakdown by levels? I think it might be safe to say that hunter class does change a bit at certain key levels (10 = getting your first pet, 40 = changing armor class, etc...).
I think the Hunter FAQ is great - actually, I think it's probably the very best of all the FAQs on Alla. But that doesn't mean it couldn't use some tweaking and improving.
Maybe (and quite understandably) part of the problem is that to create a FAQ you really need to have "been there, done that" and basically be level-capped. Which, of course, means you haven't actually BEEN in a position to require the assistance of a FAQ for quite a while. Being a teacher myself, I know how difficult it can be to cover material which seems so self-evident to you, but remains mysterious and elusive to the student.
I'm not excusing the "wuts teh best pet 4 kllng stuff?" posts. I believe Satan has reserved a very special place in Hell for people who post that sort of thing (I think it's in the condo next to where he and Chris live... near the luau pit).
Might some of the people who worked so hard on the existing FAQ consider a more "basic" version of it? Sort of a "Hunter 101... breakdown by level" approach? Maybe an approach that also takes into consideration those who play casually (the Hunter class appears to attract a lot of casual players, like myself)?
