Has anyone done an all paladin group?Follow

OK, this may be silly, but I keep seeing in my mind's eye that scene from Excalibur where Arthur and the knights ride out, armor polished, O Fortuna playing in the background, and the land turning green as they pass by. I then see a group of paladins - Prot, Ret and Holy, riding up to an instance, same music playing, all on warhorses, going in and kicking the holy (pun acknowledged) living snot out of the denizens - probably undead or demons...

How viable would something like this be?

For a 5 man? It'd be perfectly viable. Weird. Redundant. But viable.

Hm...now you've given me an idea.

For an instance? Totally viable, 5 Paladins could handle anything out there. 5 Druids would be a little better balanced, but there's no way a group of 5 of the same class will be well-balanced in the first place so meh. It certainly would have an epic quality to it though.

An all Paladin raid is missing out on lots though, and full of fail.

Insidious, though... Probably grew out of what I wished I could do during the Zombie Invasion, plus too much YouTube.

AMEN.

My mom (shadow priest) and I (holy paladin) spent much of the zombie event patrolling westfall and forcibly cleansing everyone in site. We got a few more in on it. It was epic.

I think I would have enjoyed that. It would have brought out the role-playing geek in me!

Diversify your buffs, gotta have at least one non-Pally =P
(BoM, BoK, BoW, tank puts BoSanc on himself, what does the 5th Pally do?)

And I still wish they'd make Zombie Invasion servers...

Well, if they're a female (excluding Dwarf) or a male BE, they sit there and look pretty :P hehe

I had a group with 4 PLDs and a DK (who jokingly offered to drop if we wanted another paladin), so pretty close (and all plate). We were doing H. HoL and steamrolled it. I can only imagine if we had done CoS...

Pretty much any 5-man instance can be done with 5 Paladins.

There are also a few bosses in Naxx (especially 10-man) that COULD be done with all Paladins, but there are quite a few bosses in Naxx that you could NOT do with all Paladins.

Patchwerk, Noth, Faerlina, Razuvious, Thaddeus... those you could do with a 10-pally group for sure (probably a few others as well, but those stick out as pretty easy regardless of group composition). Several fights would just about be flat-out impossible with all Paladins. Lack of ranged attacks would just make the fights not work.

You could probably all-Pally Sarth+0 and probably even 1 or 2 drakes up. Not sure if you could all-Pally Sarth + 3 , but I doubt it unless your tanks were all superbly geared and had some great skill.

I will say if you take a Prot Paladin, 3 Rets and 1 Holy and you cannot finish a timed CoS in time for the drake... well... ya just ain't very good.

My ret pala got roped into an all-Paladin WSG once (pre wotlk). We had a fair mix of prot, ret & holy, but it was the usual (for our server) Alliance pvp fiasco. I suspect the 'leader', if not others, expected the horde to see the group composition and throw the towel in right away...as it was, we lost quite badly.

Actually i can't think of a single fight in Naxx10 that would be any trouble for 10 pallys. KT would be quite a bit harder, but i've done it with all melee, so all pallys wouldn't be much different than that. No fight in naxx10 requires range dps, unless i'm just completely forgetting an encounter(generally run it 3-4 times a week, kinda blurs together).

And really the only fights in Naxx 25 that would be impossible or nearly impossible would be KT and the fight that requires 2 priests to MC(although we've had glitched nights where the mc breaks after 5-10sec every time and you can just ping-pong taunt him between 2-3 tanks and survive the encounter, its not pretty but it can be done).

What about Noth/Sapphiron due to lack of a decurse? Or are they easy enough to heal/damage through without decursing?

Noth might be kinda tough, but he doesn't really do that much damage, so I am sure it would be possible. Sapphiron might be REALLY difficult without a decurse though... be interesting to try.

I had originally though that Gluth might be tough, but the more I think about it, having a Ret or 2 kite the zombies and having 10 people that have exorcism/holy wrath available would probably make this fight laughably easy in reality.

I think Anub would be somewhat tough with nothing but Paladins... getting from melee range to 30+ yards away to stay out of the swarm would really be the only part that was even remotely problematic though. I had also wondered about how to get people down off of the wall on Maexxna when webbed (we always have ranged do that), but I am sure it would be possible too.

I have enough Pallies in my guild that I could probably try this on 10-man... might make that a special event one week :)

I've done an all druid OS+1. It wasnt too bad, had a bunch of wipes until we put a better skilled tank on adds, then it was pretty easy. With pallys you'd get a wider range of buffs, MotW is not a nice only buff, but you'd lose range, still think OS+1 would be pretty easy and awesome looking for 10 pallys

Not a glitch, if you priest is not hit capped it has a chance to break every three seconds. The higher the hit the less of a chance to break.

Palys are the best gluth kiters. just stack all ranged in one spot and have either your ret or prot paly drop consecrate on that spot the entire time. Use righteous fury and have shamans drop earthbind and hunters drop frost trap.
