what stats (health, mana, crit, etc..) does a holy pally need when starting to do heroics?

I dont honestly know much about the holy spec but let me give you the advice that holds true to every class. If you take a little bit of money and make the 3(?) Titansteel Pieces that you can have for Plate Casters along with maybe 1 or 2 JC'd ring/neck items. Remember dont BUY them off the AH almost 100% of the time buying mats and having someone make it for you saves you a substantial amount of money. So those Crafted items+ some good blues from regular instances and you'll be plenty fine.

I know in full Heroic gear my pally had 1850 SP like 20%crit and 16000mana. I never played my holy spec i just built a set. So i'd guess as long s you're around 1400+sp decent crit and 13-15k mana you'll probably due fine if you're a good healer.

I healed Gundrak on my priest with 1150sp and only 13000 mana...it SUuuuuucked and I had a 28khp tank with me but that was freakin tough.

Also, push for AC rep...wear the tabard and run the dalies. They have two awesome purples for purchase at higher rep levels. The titansteel helm and feet are meh for holy, but the guardian (mace) is supergood. The helm of purified thoughts from AD honored is better than TS brilliant helm.

Frenzyheart has some nice rep gear too (pants and gloves @ Revered), and a bunch of dailies that will help you get them fairly quickly while you're Championing AC rep.

You should also do the Wyrmrest Accord dailies to get bracers @ Honored (and if you hit Revered before you're done with AC rep, you can buy the 2nd best head enchant for Holydins, until you can Champion for Kirin Tor for the SP/Crit one).

I basically had quest/rep/78+ dungeon blues in most slots when I started healing heroics (my trinkets were green for a while). If you really want to buy epics, I wouldn't look at Titansteel gear. There are some BoE drops from raids that have a nice mix of SP/Crit/Int that your money would be better spent on (although it's completely unnecessary for starting heroics).

I would recommend starting with Heroic Nexus and Heroic UK. Nexus will have several upgrades (blue SP plate belt, epic 1h SP mace). UK has an epic caster ring that I've never seen drop. Odds are you'll be getting tanks that are way over-geared for stuff, so you can probably pick up tank gear if you want to, but I'd ask if the tank needs stuff first (my Prot off-set was mostly heroic drops before I knew it)

No no no no no no no. The brilliant titansteel plate caster stuff may look good with all its spell power, crit and mp5 but it's got no int/stam so you'd be a fool to wear it.

I started in heroics on quested blues, a couple of greens, and the titansteel guardian. My first Violet Hold and Nexus heroics went fine but since then I've had problems with either the tanks or the dps'ers.

Hopefully I'll have the titanium spellshock necklace waiting for me tonight - the money I've made from dailies has paid for it.

I'd recommend around 1400 +heal and 15k mana to get started, less if you know you've got a good team around you.

Forex, Poignant Sabatons drop from 25-man Noth and are BoE. They far outclass anything you can get in 10-man content. The Titansteel boots are, in terms of /effective/ power, right up there with BT/Hyjal drops and Badge of Justice rewards. However, the Naxx drop only costs (on average) three times as much (2500 to 800) - I got mine for 1600.

Expensive, overrated, and they reinforce an incorrect impression that WotLK healing is unchanged from BC healing. There is no question for Holy Paladins for which "Titansteel" is the best answer. They might get you deeper into heroics slightly quicker, but they'll be replaced before you start raiding - bite the bullet and get mid-level rep and/or quest gear (e.g. the Tuskarr club, boots from a quest in normal Gundrak).

1400 heal/15k mana should be easily enough with a decent group - it's not enough to save DPS who don't stand behind the pillars, but what gear can save DPS with a death wish? For quick heals in short, sharp fights, you'd be good to go at that gear level, you shouldn't need extended HL spam in Nexus (in fact, you really can't do extended HL spam in Nexus).

I had a pally healer bring me through UP with a full 800SP and maybe 13.5k mana.

We had to stop for him to drink a few times, but he did well otherwise. Knowing how to play > gear imo.

If you're unsure of yourself and want a buffer though, I started at 1600SP although I would have been fine with 1400.

I can't remember much except my spellpower, I had about 1250 with kings when I started heroics and I jumped in head first. First heroic was Nexus, got the mace that run, enchanted it and immediately I jumped to about 1400.

I was holy from level 73-80, and I healed every non heroic dungeon so many times that I had every piece of holy loot except maybe 2 pieces. So my obvious next step was to jump right into heroics. I did spend alot of gold properly gemming and enchanting everything, yes even those quest blues or mid-range dungeon drops.

Most heroics in wotlk aren't super hard, so as long as you know what you are doing, you can start healing them very soon after hitting 80 - especially if you have a good tank and dps with you.

I would say that knowing how and when to use your abilities (especially Beacon of Light and Sacred Shield), and having a good mod setup (I use grid+clique) is more important than raw stats.

Its all about the group in HC instancing. Sometimes 14k mana are enough, sometimes Naxx25 gear won't help and you'll be wiping. DPS, Tank and Healing gear good enough is required.

I wouldn't do Nexus if the tank has less than 23-25k HP and I would definitely quit if the DPS is low on the trash before the first boss.

I started HCs with about 15-16k Mana and about 1,1k-1.2k SP. All of these came from quests blues and greens, normal blues and rep. rewards. Make sure your gear is up to date and you took advantage of the reputation awards available. They are awesome upgrade compared to some normal and quest items.

Heroic Nexus is one of the easier Heroics. I can't see any reason as to why you'd want already heroic geared tanks only to tank it.

20-21K HP(excluding bear tanks) would be more than enough for Nexus imo. So long as they have their 535 defense, there shouldn't be too much trouble.

As for DPS, I'll never quit before the first boss at least. Unless you're talking about DPS all under 1k. Then I'd leave too.
