I did some reading...read the sticky, followed some links, and generally found myself lost. So I decided to post and be about the 1532nd resto druid to come here looking for advice to get started! Huzzah!
First the stats: 1402 bonus healing in tree form, 13% crit, 505/183 mp5
(My gear is a hodge-podge of crafted blues/epics, BoE blues, and generally speaking is far from ideal, but it was what I was able to slap together Sunday night when I respecced. Consider it a work in progress.)
I'm reviewing resources on where to find the most currently available gear upgrades, but what I'm not sure about are my methods as a healer. I healed reg Nexus for my first experience healing a group. Level 80 resto druid...level 80 tank...reg Nexus. It was a chance to familiarize myself with my current settings, etc., but bare bones in terms of developing any kind of skill.
Next up was heroic Nexus today. We had a pally tank and coming from someone whose main is a pally tank, he put forth a very lackluster performance. Threat issues combined with dps who decided that since the pally apparently couldn't tank, they would made for a lot of damage flying around and a novice healer struggling to keep up. Of course, I got a fair bit of blame for it, but after our second wipe they replaced the paladin with a warrior and the run went fairly smoothly.
I was basically doing my best to keep a rolling stack of Lifebloom on the tank at all times, Rejuv when his health dipped, Regrowth if his health dipped more, and Healing Touch if he needed a serious boost. DPS taking damage got a Rejuv for peripheral damage, Regrowth if they needed more, and a single Lifebloom if I felt the Regrowth wouldn't top them up fast enough but they were currently out of imminent danger. I was using Clique and couldn't remember my click binding for Wild Growth, completely forgot I had Nourish, and frequently forgot about Swiftmend. Ya, novice healer extraordinaire.
I've got a ways to go and more practice ahead of me before I would even consider myself an adequate healer, but any basic tips you guys could offer would be appreciated ^^
