The Elusive 39 Elemental Shammy Twink!Follow

#1 Feb 16 2009 at 1:49 AM Rating: Decent
I play on the Nazgrel server, my Shammy is named Give. He's usually a healer, but throws the killswitch to DPS on the BG.

While the most popular build for 39 Shamans is Enhancement for survivability, and I admit to that I've seen some really amazing Enchantment Shammies, they are easy to play, gear, etc... They do a moderate amount of DPS, and have staying power. I like them a lot. The are easy.

Elemental Shammies on the other hand, are difficult to play, involve a lot of kiting, slowing enemies down with Frost Shock and once in a while busting out with amazingly powerful Chain Lightning. At 39 I was Dealing over 1k damage per cast on a group of 3! Awesome! XD

Bottom line, if you want something that can destroy opponents and dominate the DPS charts, that's a bit of a challenge. This is an awesome build once you learn to play it.

GEAR
This is not the end all be all. But this allowed me to hit 600 points of damage on a single lightning cast followed by an instant cast of Frost Shock or Earth Shock for another 300 points on a single target with little cooldown. A total of of over a 1,000 points of damage in like a second.

(This is what I wore, not that it is the best gear out there. Be Creative)

Regal Wizard Hat of Healing (+20 Spellpower)
Glowing Eye of Mordesh (+6 Spellpower +11 Crit Rate)
Bloodmage Mantle (Stats, and +10 Crit Rate)
Battle Healer's Cloak (a battle ground item, easy to get.)
Barbaric Bracers (Stats, mostly Stamina and Stamina enchant)
Bone Fingers (Stats mostly Intellect and Haste enchant)
Deathmage Sash (+12 Spell Power)
Stoneweaver Leggings (+9 Spellpower with enchant +40 Stamina/+12 Agility)
Briar Tredders (Intellect and Minor Speed Enchant)
Advisor's Ring (+9 Spellpower)
Golden Ring of Power (+6 Spellpower)
Rune of Perfection (+10 Spell Penetration)
Insignia of the Horde

WEAPONS
I could not find a plus +22 Intellect enchant for my blade, or a spellpower enchant, but the amount of damage I can deal with this gear is already fairly astronomical Icy Weapon, allows the use of Flametounge Weapon with the same Proc as Frostbrand Weapon.

Hypnotic Blade (+9 Spellpower with Icy Enchant)
Steadfast Buckler of the Falcon (Intellect with +12 Intellect enchant)

NOTES ON GEAR
The Haste and Speed enchants are absolutely necessary. You will be kiting a lot, and will need these speed boost. I did not enchant my head piece, but I would opt for Haste over Spellpower, Intellect or Stamina. You need the speed.

GLYPHS
Absolutely you will need Glyph of Shocking and Glyph of Frost Shock.

STRATEGY
You will still need the protection of Lightning Shield even though you are not meele, people will want to hurt you the second you Chain Lightning a group. I swear, they will stop attacking everyone else and like charge you. It's a beautiful thing when you get aggro on real players. Kiting is crucial!

So what you want to do after announcing to everyone that you have arrived. Is drop an Earthbind totem (to slow them), Searing Totem (to hurt them), Windfury Totem (to speed up your casting times)and whatever else tots you have to confuse them.

Now, by this time they may be getting closer to you. Cast some Frost Shocks, refresh tots. If u get a chance do a Chain Lightning. You will kill a few of them hopefully saving your cloth wearing behind.

There is a super low chance that they do not all want to kill you after your first attack. So if they are busy, and don't notice massive drops in their HPs, stay back and cast lightning and frost shocks till Chain Lightning Cools. Then just mop up.

NOTE
This is a super hard class to play because if u want Chain to Hit massive deeps, you need to wear cloth. Clothies with no bubbles are super difficult to keep alive and the amount of damage u do, attracts the wrong attention. Hunters are tough, because even as a caster you'll want to stay meele range and u truly have no Crowd Control, the pets are annoying. Pallies are easy to kill, just kite them. Wars as well. Rouges are easy too.

Just keep in mind you are a glass gun and you will do fine and don't forget always Kite!

Windfury totem has no effect on cast haste, that's purely the domain of Wrath of Air totem; otherwise a neat concept :)
