Warlock quest questions...Follow

My lock is level 39 and I'm currently on the questline that tells you to choose between a felhound and an infernal. Supposedly, if you choose the felhound, the quest rewards will give you +shadow damage, and +fire damage if you choose the infernal.

This is the quest:
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?wquest=1799&source=live&locale=enUS

Questions are:
What is the difference between these two pets?
This is not the questline to learn how to summon an infernal, right?
Also, according to everything I've seen about the quest rewards, there is no difference between them. They both give a flat amount of +spell power. Neither one is for +shadow or +fire. Is this still true?

Basically... Which route should I go? I'm leveling Affliction so far, but I've thought of trying the other two trees in the next few levels just to see what they're like...

My armory (if it matters):

Thank you for the help.

Felhound - Good vs. spell casters. Not an ideal melee pet.

Infernal - Personally, I've never used it, but from what I understand it's only attacks are:
1: When summoned, it damages mobs in the area it lands (it comes down like a meteor).
2: Melee attacks.

The infernal also doesn't last forever. Felhound will last until killed, unsummoned or another pet is summoned.

Which ever you pick for the quest, I don't think really matters. Been ages since I did the quest, so I forget the details about it. My lvl 80 lock can summon either pet.

Ok... Maybe I just misunderstood something...

So I'll still be able to learn to summon both eventually?

Like if I choose the felhound, I will get a quest or just learn the spell to summon the infernal later? And vice-versa..

Thanks for the reply.

That quest chain actually doesn't get you your Felhunter. The end gets you a rare off hand or an uncommon staff. The confusion comes is as the infernal side used to give +fire dmg while the felhunter side gave +shadow dmg.

Now that everything is just spell power, it doesn't make a difference. Its all +dmg.

WowWiki will show you the quest chain for your felhunter.

[Edit to actually answer questions]: I just did this as affliction and chose the felhunter quest to be safe, but the rewards are the same regardless. This quest does not get you either the felhunter or the infernal.

I already have my felhunter. This is supposed to be for a felhound... Read somewhere that it is different... A bit bigger I think...

Thanks again for the clarifications on the quest rewards. I'll choose felhound just because... Or maybe infernal... Or maybe i'll just randomly click and get whichever one I get...

Anywayz... Thanks again for the replies.

You have the quest wrong. IT DOES NOT GIVE YOU A PET. PERIOD. END OF SENTENCE.

What it does is give you either a staff or an off-hand with the demon that you choose infused within it. The felhound spirit infuses your choice of reward with +shadow damage. The infernal infuses your choice with +fire damage.

REPEAT, YOU DO NOT GET A PET OUT OF THIS QUEST!

I finished the quest last night. I thought I read somewhere that I would get another pet out of this. Or maybe I misread it... I don't remember exactly where I read it... I think WoWiki... But in any case, the quest chain is completed.
When I completed the quest, I did not get a choice. It was the standard "bring me this, and you get a choice of these two items". No felhound, no infernal, no nothing... Either way, I did not get a new pet, and the quest rewards just had +stam, +int, and +spell power.

Oh well... Just another quest chain completed. Good news is that it took me to Dustwallow Marsh. Lots of quests there. I was getting tired of STV anywayz...

Thanks all for the replies...
Feel free to lock this down or let it wither away...
