Gluth HelpFollow

#1 Jan 29 2009 at 11:45 PM Rating: Default
My guild is going through naxx, and we have most fights on farm, but we always seem to have trouble on Gluth, and its partially my falt. We rarely have more hunters then just myself online for raids, so we usually have to use Pallys or DKs to help kite the zombies, but they can't get away enough to not get hit, and even i have some problems with kiting that many zombies at once. My frost trap doesn't last long enough to keep all the zombies kited for long enough before he does that little thing where they all go to him so he can eat them.

My question is, what do the more experianced hunters do in this fight? Any specific pathing strats they do, or any little tricks i can use to help me? Everytime we wipe on this boss i always feel like it's my fault, and i need some help so i don't let my guildies down.

I kite the zombies at Gluth every time, solo with 1 healer.
Just run circles around your frost trap, drop one whenever it's off cooldown, use disengage whenever there's zombies too close.
Use concussive to stop zombies from getting outside of the pack, and aggro them with Explosive/Aimed/Arcane or whatever else you have.

I personally throw around some stings on the zombies to Proc LnL and make it easier to keep aggro on the whole bunch.
Having a priest heal you for the shield and more importantly the shackle to grab loose adds is a plus.

It does get hectic close before a decimate, but outside of making sure you keep aggro on all of em and the occasional clutch moment it's not too hard.

We wiped a couple times when we first fought him, but the 2 resets after that he's been one shot.
Even with a tank that disconnected (although that was a very very close one :P)

All good solid advice that I would add a couple things to. Put your first frost trap down as soon as you are in the room to start he CD on your next one and you'll keep ahead of them despawning that way. When you see decimate coming about 10 seconds or so out, make your way to he back of the room so they are all clumped togather nicely and as far away as possible from the boss. A little extra stam in the way of frost resist gear never hurts either.

Is this 25 man?

On 10 man a hunter can kite adds but on 25 man (which is what it sounds like if you have a pally and DK tanking adds together) you help with frost traps. What I do is drop one on the middle grate every time cooldown is up and they kite them over the traps. As long as the kiters know where the traps are it should be no problem, they kind of decide when to use the trap. Make sure you drop it at the back of the grate to keep them as far away as possible. Also free LnL procs FTW.

For 25 we use 2 hunters and a pally/DK. Our third hunter will drop frost traps every CD, but thats about it. It can be helpful for a few of your shammys to throw down some Earthbind totems as well. If you do have a DK or pally, keep kiting your adds through their D&D or consecrate and FD them off you onto them. That way you can go pick up more adds and keep the process rolling.

If you are the only one expected to perform this task on heroic, then your guild needs to re evaluate how they do things. I am not going to beat around the bush, I am a very good hunter, I still would not want to try to kite ALL the zombies on heroic by myself. A single small lag spike, or a simple mistake and you can kill everyone. We even had one of our Ele shammys learn to kite just in case we were ever short handed.

*edit* 10 mann is different, a single hunter can easily kite everything on 10 man. It may take some practise, but is is very doable.

I should've been more specfic, this is on 25 man. My strategy isn't much differant then the ones suggested, the main problem seems to be near the end it gets way to hectic and the other 2 kiters start to lose the zombies so i try to pick them up and end up with about 20 or so zombies chasing me. I'll try out kiting them into the Pally/DK so they can take care of them, especially since my guild switches them out every Decimate so they can get rid of their stacks.

I guess I have been a little more specific myself. For this to work the easiest remember that the pally or DK is the main kiter. They shold be the one with most of the skellies on them, they just need to run in circles through earthbinds and frost traps and lay down aoe threat. Your job is to get mobs to them. Keep them out of the raid and get them to the plate kiter. MD works great, as does dragging them through aoe threat and FD.
