I've looked up and down trying to figure out if DKs can use shields or not. It appears not, but could someone confirm this for me, please?

Odd... I'd have thought a Plate class would be pretty much designed to use shields. /confused

No Death Knights can not use shields. They receive an armor bonus from frost aura so they are more like Druids in that regard. You can use two handed swords, axes, and maces. You can also you use the one handed equivalents.

And they have high parry rates to make up for the loss of block.

It's more that Str gives us parry, in addition to talents that increase our parry as well.

Much as Str increases block on a warrior.

Already, I won't worry about not having a shield should I ever tank as a DK.

Thanks

Side note: I've only seen 1 decent polearm at 80. Did I miss one?

Well, the Wraith Spear from regular Naxx isn't horrid for DK's, but if somebody else in the raid wants it I'd let them have it.

Edited for spelling

The Wraith Spear would go to hunters (who don't have the one from Maly) first of course, maybe a paladin second. But even if they didn't need it... meh... at that point where we would be raiding Naxx there are too many other good options to take that one and have to level up another weapon skill. That one might be better spent as a shard. The really good enchants are 'spensive =)

I heard a rumor (and please remember the word rumor) that in 3.1 DK's would be able to take a talent spec for a shield. Any word on this, or was that person just trying to get the DK's hopes up in that raid?

no

This. It wouldn't really make sense to have a shield as this would severely gimp our dps/threat generation.

yeah it might do that, but I am getting seriously tired of players telling me to shield up or go DW for tanking... I try and try to explain the 2h weapons have better stats, but all they look at is the def+ on single hand swords.

Tell them to stfu. Or you can send them my way and I'll do it for you. They're idiots and need to be taught, apparently the hard way.

Just tell them, "If I go DW, I can't use Bankai." (Sorry, avatar related). It's not worth arguing with morons though, seriously.

I just ignore the genius that makes the comment.

hahaha. Ichigo FTW... I need to find a place to get all the Bleach Episodes Direct2drive seems to have a nice collection going, and I would love to get caught up again.

I think that 4bleach.com has a good collection, though I'm not sure you can download them. I personally only have up to episode 63 on my computer, the rest (up to 202) I've watched online. I skipped a few filler seasons though.

Just a warning, I run Firefox with Flashblock, Adblock, and NoScript, and have no idea what that site is like without them.

I was actually looking for dvd sets, or a trusted site (I don't mind paying for my bleach fix). I have had too many problems with the various fan sites (virus and loggers).

You're probably going to get defaulted for ******** about karma, too.
#26REDACTED, Posted: Jan 17 2009 at 12:30 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I actually don't so much care about karma. People could sub-default every post I make for the next year and it won't do much. Merely find it odd that people would rate down an honest question.
