Since the release of 3.0 and WoTLK most UI's have been outdated. We used to have a post your UI thread going, but it has been lost in all the other posts.

I noticed somewhere that Theo is still in the process of setting up his famous UI, but was curious what others are using to date.

I personally only have Carbonite as a Mod atm as I am still leveling. Any help would be much appreciated from me and I am sure others.

Thanks in advanced,
Feyras

With the consumables and XP bars hidden.

DoTimer is the length of my rune cooldowns and extends up from them. I also have ToT to the right of my target, focus above, and target/focus target cast bars in the middle of the screen. I'll try to upload a config shot so people can see how it looks later today (though I should be working on my DK DPS FAQ).

The ui is really clean. I really like it. So, are you going to be making another package ui like you had before WoTLK?

Odds are yes. I don't really like the black box Chatter puts up, so if I can modify that and get my arena mods the way I want them, we could see a release pretty early in the New Year.

wow theo yours looks a lot like mine, nothing on the screen at all but what I need to see. only differences I Hhve is that I use ICEhud for my debuffs/buffs. and since Im a raid leader I keep up tiny pitbull frames in raid, and a class cooldown timer.

Props Theo, that UI gets me in the mood to play DK... I love how you've placed abilities beneath their respective runes to keep everything as clear as possible.

Here's my UI in combat and out of combat.

I mainly use Pitbull for my unitframes and Bartender 4 to set up the bars. When I stealth up, all bars disappear except the 'main' one (which holds Mutilate) which then phases into my stealth bar. The stealth button is removed when stealthed as well, so I can't accidently hit it or something. To get the "in combat/out of combat bar switch" effect, I've placed 2 bars over eachother with one set to "hide while in combat" and the other to "hide while out of combat". Last but not least, there's a couple of macro's in there; I've got all my poison skills macro'd so they automatically apply poison to the right weapon when clicked (so I don't have to go find my weapon), and I use my focus (which appears underneath my own unitframe, as a pet normally would) as the target for my TotT macro. Furthermore, blind is a mouseover-macro.

They're actually placed in keybind order.

1 2 3 F G V
F6 F7 MWU MWD s-MWU s-MWD

F6 and F7 are bound to the two side buttons on my mouse, FYI.

Edit: Played with my UI some more.

I honestly hated the look of Xperl, but I used it since it was the most reliable unit frame addon.

Well, not anymore.

Here are some screenshots.

Configuration shot with proximo:

Screenshot

OOC:

Screenshot

In combat:

Screenshot

Underneath Proximo is my focus target. In the configuration shot, you can see that I have my focus target's debuffs shown, mainly because I have focus DG/Strangulate/Mind Freeze macros.

DoTimer only shows debuffs on my current target and my focus. I purposely have it set up that way so I don't spam my screen.

Opposite my focus frame is my pet frame and my pet's buffs. This is the easy way for me to keep track of HoW.

In the configuration shot, you can see that I have two sets of buffs on either side of the screen. These are my target's buffs/debuffs. The reason that I continue to use DoTimer after doing this is because the debuff group shows literally EVERY debuff on my target. It gets a little confusing with multiple DKs. Smiley: wink

Still using MagicRunes over the UnderHood (unitframe addon) runes, because they're ugly as sin.

Oh, and my focus castbar is in the middle of the screen for easy Mind Freeze/DG/Strangulates.

My own cast bar is beneath the swing timer you can see below my health bar in the combat shot. Yes, it's between my RP bar and my health bar.

That should be it. This will probably be the final version before release, though I think I'll add party health/mana bars at some point (not that I need them).

There's parts I really like and parts that wouldn't work for me. I find it somewhat annoying for example that all good UI's have this need to put huge spaces in between their ability buttons. I like to keep my stuff together, I only want space in between boxes of spells (ie I make a box with finishers, a box with CP generators, etc).

On a sidenote, something that also catches my eye on a load of UIs; there's so few abilities on screen? There's got to be more than 12 abilities you need in combat, right? I've been cutting in that number in my own UI but I honestly can't get it down to numbers that would fit on a single action bar.

I'll have to think about setting up my own and my target boxes the same way you have them, though. My priest has his focus down there, but I like the idea for my rogue as well.

Also, I've done a small update explaining some stuff about my UI.

I only show main cooldowns I need to see, and buttons that I change often. Really, I could cut it down to 6 buttons shown (and I'll probably change the other 6 to a consumable bar so I can change them easily).

So basically, everything that you've keybound is hidden?

Edit: Ah, never mind, just scrolled trough the same thread in the DK forums. I've been wanting to do the same, but A) there's times when I'm just slacking/lying back and prefer playing 1 with hand (ie clicking all my stuff) and B) it somehow feels a bit more secure to have all the icons at hand.

Yeah, I played like that for 2 years. All of my DPS abilities (other than Death Coil, which is shown) are bound to my mouse, so I could DPS with one hand if I really wanted to. It's the PvPer in me that's concentrating on movement while I spam my abilities that makes me do that.

I use Dominos and Titan Panel. My keybindings are probably pretty unique as I use a Razor Diamondback mouse, which has 6 buttons. A lot of my moves require me using either one of the two side buttons with my thumb or clicking the scroll wheel in combination with using either shift or alt. So that's a total of 9 abilities I can do with my mouse. I have the rest located around my WASD keys. Q is Hemo, E is ShS, F is Evisc, C is Rupture. I can reach up to the 5 key for Shadowmeld (which I'm going to switch to 4). Exp bar fades to translucent when not hovered over.

Pretty cool, huh? :p

Why on Earth do you have your menu bar shown? Do you actually click those buttons?

I have mine bound, that's why I'm asking.
#14 Dec 24 2008 at 11:40 AM Rating: Decent
I don't know, lol. It's just instinct to use the buttons. I never really made the effort to remember the keys for them. The thing I use them for the most is to check my FPS. Which I do often. I'll just add it to titan panel.

Here's the updated look:

Somebody in this thread is going to get Diablo 3? =P

I like that one a lot Feyras, there's plenty of graphs around and it's still nice and clean. Just one thing; what's up with the Star Trek sci-fi minimap?

I just hate the ugly looks of the original one. I normally have it turned off completely because I use the minimap from carbonite. I just turned it off for the pic.

That is correct. It is still a work in progress, and I am a noob when it comes to ui customization. If you could PM me or something telling me how to go with the diablo font because it is not a preloaded font. I would greatly appreciate Theo.

Edit: Fix an error, and to say Merry Christmas to all.

Slight derail but, is there a good use for focusing in PVP? Just curious cause Theophany mentioned it above. And isn't Shift + V suppose to bring up health panels for both enemy and ally? When I do it, it only shows for ally.

A normal V press shows panels for enemies. Shift+V brings up health panels for allies only. It's control+V you're looking for.

As for focus in PvP... Good question. I know some players use their focus in combination with a blind [target=focus] macro, other than that I can't really come up with anything creative. Unless ofcourse you roll double DPS, then you might want to focus your partner and put TotT on a [target=focus] macro.

And another edit; that focusing bit is rogue-only. I'm sure there's plenty of reasons for other classes to use focus in PvP (warrior's intervene could be one, for example).

There are an infinite amount of reasons to focus in PvP. Since kick doesn't bring up the GCD (or you can kick while the GCD is going), you can make a ShS-kick macro for kicking your focus' spells.

Blind is a good use, and I also used it for throw (keeping people in combat), kick (kicking a healer near my current target without switching, targetlasttarget can work for this too), ShS, etc.

TotT I would always macro to the person I'm going to use it on. Putting it on focus limits you in PvP too much.

Aye, fair enough on the TotT part. If you've got one buddy you constantly arena with you can just macro in his name and be done with it, no point in wasting your focus. I use focus for it because I use TotT for PUGs only and I don't really need it for anything else. Kick might be interesting... right now I just switch targets but perhaps even a mouseover would be a good idea. ShS would be golden; but then again, I don't have it at the moment.
