So I figured I'd post this for the rather new players. I play a mage, started playing in November of last year. I noticed I caught on exceptionally fast, and the game was something I loved. It saved me money for going out all the time, and really interested me. So I stuck with it, hit 85 and got into raiding. I left the guild I leveled from 1 with where I made great friends, and went to the number 3 raiding guild on the server, only because the GM had a friend and told him I had potential. So I went here to raid where I began to see a little raid time, and got some nice gears. And even at 3-5 il's below my competetion was significantly ahead. I decided after I got a taste, I wanted more. I searched the web not even knowing where to find another guild. Found WoWProgress. I found a guild that was recruiting mages and at the time was 10/12 normal mode. I was only at 3/12. I made the decision to transfer to another realm and staying with this guild clearing 11/12 normal modes. This guild I had joines was a new 10 man of friends and one night I logged on for raid, and the guild was disbanded. Lucky I spent alot of time at the training dummies and some of the mages from the top guilds on the server had made chat with me, ran randoms, told me I had potential, so I decided to just make a leap. I decided to go Horde, and I decided to go to the #1 server in the world. When I got their I was amazed, groups were already pugging Nefarian. I joined up with a guild by a recruitment thread, applied and was accepted. I cleared 3/13 with this guild where I again made some awesome friends, and if this team could have had a couple of people replaced, it would have really accelled. But it began to wither, until, progression halted, people argued, it just took all the fun out of raiding. I had met another Mage on the server, who was in a 10/13 hm guild, and as most of you know 3/13 and 10/13 with heroic nef down, is quite a leap. I decided to give it a chance, and joined up with this guild. I probably have to say I spent the most time in this guild and made some of the best friends I've had in WoW to date, I progressed with some of the hardest content at that time with these guys, and succeded with all but Sinestra and AC. After Firelands came out, we had ALOT of drama start in the guild provoked by 2 of the best players leaving and 1 quitting. People began not logging on for raids,we were forced to take several bad players in, it just wasnt fun at all. I kept the friends I made in that guild talked to them and decided to leave. I am now playing in a 6/7 HM firelands guild, who is workin on Heroic Rag Progression and very close to a kill. Which even though the main hype is over, the top 35-50 guilds in the world......What a trip it has been, and if you want to be good at this game and get to the top, the main thing I can tell you is, Be Honest. If you want to raid at a top level and your current guild isnt there, your friends will understand that's what some want, and be happy for you. The people that are mad, dont really care to begin with.
Hope you dont hate me for my wall of text, and I hope you enjoyed the story, hope it makes somebody realize it's not that hard.
