Flash powder for vanish seems to be the one reagent I find in inadequate amounts from pick pocketing. I get plenty of everything else.

I'd like to update the FAQ in one detail. Sharpening stones and weight stones will overwrite poisons on weapons and vice versa.

Very nice guide dude thanks!

great topic, but i would ad one more thing
blinding powder now drops a lot more (since recent patch), from boxes that you pickpocket from mobs, so there is really no need to make them from fadeleaf, as you can get stack of powder in some 10 min grind on humanoids easy

"Little known fact: After picking the lock and getting to book. 1) The chest disappears and respawns every 5 or 10 seconds. Max out your lockpicking while you are there. Dont worry about the touch of Zand, you can fix that in another quest or you can be like me and have to come back and get touched again.
That can also be fixed, but why put yourself through that a second time. :>) "

once you turn in the quest tho, it appears you can't use the chest to level up the lock-picking skills. Mousing over it (and I tried at lvl 26 to come back and work mine up...) doesn't give the wheel icon, grey OR gold.

Is there a resource out there that lists what poisons a mob is vulnerable to (or invulnerable to)? In particular, bosses would be the most helpful.

What lvl can I train my poison in after 225? I have heard that you have to be 45 I also heard that you have to be 50 to be able to increase it.

Sorry if I'm being dense, but I am new to the game and I am wondering how long the poison lasts.

Poisons now last 1 hour.

You gain the ability to train 5 skill point is poision when your character gains a new level. So you should see something like 105 / 110 on your skills tab. That means you have room to improve your poison ability by 5 skill points. Look at your poison recipes, see which ones are orange or yellow, make those and skill up. BTW pick pocketing (PP) humaniods is a great way to gain extra money, items, skill points in lock picking (need to open them boxes!!), and, free poison materials.

I have a rogue that I'm leveling right now and plan to PvP a lot with him. I have on question, should my DPS poison go on my offhand since it is faster or my main hand?

Not sure what you mean by "dps poison" In PvP you'd be using Wound & Crippling, and before getting Shiv most likely put the one with the highest priority on your MH since that's what you're least likely to miss with.

A good bit of news is that we no longer need Blinding Powder to Blind so yay for an extra bag slot and yay for no cost!

The other thing is that a poison category is missing:

Anesthetic Poison
Classes: Rogue
Requires Level 68
Use: Coats a weapon with poison that lasts for 1 hour. Each strike has a 20% chance of poisoning the enemy which instantly inflicts 134 to 172 Nature damage, but causes no additional threat.

Thanks

F.

I've noticed on runs where we don't have a paladin, I can't let rip with wild abandon anymore so I have to manage my threat. Anaesthetic poison is a godsend - not only does it do less damage than instant poison (and proc less) but it "causes no additional threat". Yay!

the Patch on 10-14-08 has removed the skill up related to rogue Poison's. Stop by a poison vendor to buy them now, flash powder and poison reagents have been turned to Grey Quaility and should be vendored.

Also good to note is that post-3.0 Wounding Poison does higher DPS than Instant unless you're talented into Impoved Poisons.

For Combat builds this can be true, for other builds it's still IP/DP. Check the spreadsheet for optimum with your gear/build.

I saw something that said what poisons to put on mainhand and offhand for leveling, but I can't seem to find it. Apologies in advance if this has been addressed already on these forums. I'm new to being a rogue and just hit 20 and now can buy poisons, crippling and instant poison. What poison should go on what hand? And once I get more poison options available to me, what poison combination's should I be using then and on what hand? Thanks

Generally speaking, IP/IP is your best bet when leveling. Most mobs will die before DP can make a difference, few mobs heal, few mobs do enough casting or enraging to care about Mind-Numbing or Anaesthetic, and as Therion said IP usually outperforms WP unless you have certain builds. That being said, of course there are exceptions. If you find yourself chasing down fleeing mobs, Crippling Poison can speed up finishing them off. And if you are Mutilate or have the Savage Combat talent, you want to have at least one poison that puts a debuff on the target.

While leveling it's generally best to go WP/WP because of the higher application percentage over short encounters. My above was in reference to grouping/raiding.

Is Wound Poison broken?

I've been using instant VI on main and Wound V on off-hand for some time.

Now I'm seeing the mob moving more slowly, the crippling poison icon on them and the combat text reads "Crippling Poison dissipates from ..."

I've double, double checked and I definitely see "Wound Poison" on the buff bar and the weapon.
