Things I have done to prep:

Ordered a GTX 970 4GB
Ordered a new set of 16GB DDR 3
Preordered FO4 + Season Pass
Played an excessive amount of Fallout Shelter
Froze my self in a glacier to make Tuesday come sooner and had a war with some sea otters.

Getting pretty excited, I even have a legit holiday on Wednesday so I can play all day. Anyone else feeling the get hyped?

Not necessarily a strong feeling of hype, but I did pre-order. I enjoyed FO3 but NV was pure suck from a please-dont-crash-again point of view. I've got a Lenovo gaming laptop with two vid cards that's served me very, very well for almost two years so far. I'm hoping FO4 plays nice with it.

FO4 is built on the same basic engine as FO3/NV I believe so it shouldn't require much of a beast. I caught a $30 copy during a GMG glitch and will be playing it but I don't feel a strong pull to play it on launch day. I'll probably give it a week or so for the most glaring bugs to (hopefully) be fixed.

I didn't order the season pass because I have a terrible habit of playing a game early, finishing it, having the DLC come out and never going back to do the DLC.

As much as that engine crashes you think they would have built a new one for the current gen consoles.

System Reqs:
Quote:
Minimum
Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent
8 GB RAM
30 GB free HDD space
NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or equivalent

Recommended
Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i7 4790 3.6 GHz/AMD FX-9590 4.7 GHz or equivalent
8 GB RAM
30 GB free HDD space
NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB/AMD Radeon R9 290X 4GB or equivalent

I'm at recommended aside from my processor being an older i7-860 @ 3.6GHz. I honestly doubt it'll make much difference. Hell, FO3 didn't even know what to do with a multicore processor (aside from crash) Smiley: grin

It could use the exact same graphics as the last 2 games and I would still be excited just for the new location and content. I just needed an excuse to buy a new vid card. I held out when I played Witcher 3. But I will make up for it by playing the Witcher 3 DLC with the new card when it gets here tomorrow.

I just bought it on GMG using a 27% off birthday coupon they gave me.

And preloading (didn't realize I could do that until about 10 minutes ago).

Between the discount on the base game and the season pass, I've gotten both of them for less than the price of the base game. I love GMG.

I'm a big fan of Bethesda games, and will definitely play the **** out of this eventually (i.e. when they patch all the inevitable release bugs).

But all my mid-November gaming time will be dedicated to Star Wars Battlefront. I'm having a mini-nerdgasm just thinking about it. Squeeee!

Vid card came. Confirmed, Witcher 3 looks amazing on Ultra. Can't wait to test this bad boy on FO4.

I was having some issues with FO3 and losing mouse click ability and found a fix which involved downloading a codec. It seems Windows 8 had some issue searching for a program to play .oog files and while that was happening it prevented the mouse from working fully (does that make sense?). I was unable to manually tell Windows Medial Player to play those files but the codec worked. So, I'll give FONV another try to see if that helps that game also.

I've been playing for a number of hours and the game runs at a very smooth 60 fps for me. Apart from a few minor framerate drops and a bug where my gun disappeared I'd say it's pretty good so far.

unpacking now. Probably about 10 minutes to go.

Won't get to play much, maybe just start it up and see how it runs.

Seems pretty great so far. Still in the slightly overwhelmed learning the new systems phase but ok with that. Graphics are stylized and look like Fallout. Bit bad on the animation (uncanny valley mouth talk check) after just playing the Witcher 3 DLC this weekend. Man did Witcher set the bar high on that. But non of that really bothers me, playin on ultra and it's completely smooth.

Dogmeat seems like a swell pal so far.

I played until about 4AM and got all the folks in the museum back to Sactuary. Then I messed around with crafting a bit. Then I slept for 2 hours and went to work...

I left it unpacking last night and went to sleep (intentionally! Smiley: lol). This morning I sat down to close out of everything real quick and shut down my laptop. Three hours later I left for work.

But, in three hours I made it to four or five steps outside of town, so I've got that going for me. That and the total awareness the Dalai Lama promised me.

I don't understand why they required all of this hefty RAM to run it. I'm maxed out with 16gb and it doesn't come close to using 8gb.

Silly developers.
