Are games better at telling stories?Follow

Are games better at telling stories than for example novels or movies? This is a question that intrigues me and I am very keen in finding out the answer. What do you think? Is it even possible to answer this question? If you want to help me find out, I have set up a research project about which you can find out more over here. If you want to get notified about the results of the study, there is the possibility of completely optionally leaving your email address at the end of the questionnaire (the results will still be treated anonymously).

I am very interested in hearing reading about your experiences with story telling in games. Thanks in advance for all contributions.

More information about the research project can be found on my blog.

Selected that I had played the game but the next page has a "link" to the questionnaire that just returns me to the page with the link to the questionnaire.

The 'fill in the questionnaire link didn't do anything for me.

Those have been fixed now (whoops, that's what you get for uploading old files). Thanks for your interest in the subject.

Filled it out. Unfortunately, I didn't really have a chance to speak about the ending:
Which I felt was ham-fisted and largely negated the good will I felt towards the game world and story up to that point. It was a classic "rocks fall, everyone dies" style moment where any choice was taken from you and obviously intended just to force an emotion down your throat. The lack of subtlety there dropped the game from an A to a B- in my book and really took me out of the story since now I was more real-life annoyed than in-game invested

In response to your spoiler: I never looked at it that way, I think you're the first I hear saying that. Then again, it is not unrecognisable from novels and movies, but still, thanks for your insight :)
