I hear hexes are pretty fun. I completely ignored Int though... my character was a true cleric. All faith, no int. :D

Rolled a Cleric and I'm getting face-smashed by everything. At least it'll force me to learn to dodge better. It'll eventually be more like a Holy Knight character, so I'll be running plenty of STR, VIT and END, but I'm so squishy to start with.

Man, Iron Keep is going to be a slog... It's not going to hurt my feelers at all when those Alonne Knights quit respawning. I was feeling pretty strong until I got here. Now it's death city again. Smiley: frown

I did get the Dull ember finally though. So yay for that.

I hated my Cleric early on. Had so much trouble in the Forest of Fallen Giants. It wasn't until I learned Lightning Spear that I started actually enjoying the character.

I actually found the Iron Keep to be pretty straightforward, but then again I was able to just LS/GLS the Knights to half health before they got to me.

I decided to respec to tighten up my build a little. Also I went and got the claymore on this toon as well. Then I went back to Iron Keep and stomped their faces in /flex. Smelter Demon down. Moving on. Smiley: grin

* Also forgot to say I just learned you can use binoculars to snipe with lightning spear today. That helped a lot.

...

What binoculars? Did I really miss out on this all game? Being able to snipe would have been so much easier...

You walk right by them as you enter Majula. Seeing them and the path to them is difficult, but you jump off a cliff to the right as you're coming from Things Betwixt.

Got my Cleric leveled up a little bit, brought DEX up to 12 so I can use a bow, and the Heide Knight Sword/Flame Longsword. I think next is getting Faith high enough for Lightning Spear, and then a bit into VIT to increase my equipment load so I can wear a medium+ or heavy- set at under 70%. I don't want to go full fatty, but I am comfortable with the < 70% roll. I'm feeling better about my progression, but it's still more difficult than on my Knight so far.

You can see where to get them in the speed run vid below. Thats the first thing he does. Although he does the jump MANLY. There is a safer slower way to jump over the cliff near there. It's usually marked with a note.

I started a cleric too before I respeced my hybrid Sorc.Felt real strong to me. Two hand that mace is no joke. Great weapon. First thing I did was run to flame tower clear my way to Dragonrider, summoned a dude. Killed him at Sl1 then took all my fat souls to the cleric to get lightning spear and utility spells like homeward. I thought about making a direct run to Harvest to join sunbro on him but thats as far as I got until I decidd to respec my Sorc and get a claymore. I love that you can respec now even if it's only limited. I'm going to make a lightning or flame claymore I think, just love the moveset.

My Sorc is pretty well balanced battle mage/cleric now. The changes I made seem to work great. I can melee, now have heavier armor options, can lightning, can hex, can shoot a longbow. I'm digging that balanced less specialized builds are still viable in DS2.

Tried power stance tonight on a new swordsman. Only thing I had the stats to power stance were my Shortsword +1 and Dagger. ( You need 50%+ on requirements)

Surprisingly even with those meager weapons the damage was respectable with power stance. Such low stam that the double combos it opens up really start to scale. I was whipping up on the Old Knights with it in Flame tower. So I killed me the Dragonknight and then bought 2 rapiers to try them out. Fun but not as good as a slashing combo with no shield/no lock while outrolling giants.

Still it seems like an interesting system.

Getting destroyed by the first staff-wielding Purgatory Guardian in Huntsman's Copse. I don't think I cleared that way on my Knight, either, so I'll just head for the Skeleton Lords.

Copy/Paste from NeoGAF thread.

Quote:
DARK SOULS II IS BESTOWED ADDITIONAL CHAPTERS WITH THE LOST CROWNS DLC TRILOGY
Three new DLC chapters known as The Lost Crowns trilogy will take you through entirely original areas to face a slew of unknown enemies, overcome diabolic challenges, and take-on fearsome bosses.
- DLC of Crown of the Sunken King will be available in Europe and Australasia on July, 22, 2014 for PC and Xbox / July 23 for PlayStation 3
- DLC of Crown of the Old Iron King is scheduled for August 26, 2014 for PC and Xbox / August 27 for PlayStation 3
- DLC of Crown of the Ivory King will conclude the trilogy on September 23, 2014 for PC and Xbox / September 24 for PlayStation 3.
A Season Pass program is also available for the entire The Lost Crowns trilogy via Steam for PC and PlayStation Network for PS3 from today.
Crown of the Sunken King, the first chapter in the trilogy, sends you on a journey to reclaim the crowns that Drangleic’s King Vendrick once owned. Crown of the Sunken King features an entirely different world within the DARK SOULS II universe, where stepped pyramids span a vast underground cavern. It is said that one of the ancient crowns lay buried deep within these dark caverns; but surely such a valued item cannot sit unguarded. Players that seek adversity and glory will be rewarded with a crown that holds the strength of lords from times long past.

Oh wow. Awesome. Read on another site $10/ea or $25 for the season pass. Not too bad.

The other way goes to the Skeleton Chariot Boss. Which is a pretty cool boss fight. The key on the way there is to pull those darkstaff/whip guys one at a time. They are hell on stam if you try and block the staff/Mace? ones. Better to distance and space them. The whip guys you can block np.

They're also surprisingly easy to run by if you can not fall off the bridge afterwards. Just be ready to run by the black phantom.

I still haven't tried dual wielding out yet, though I loved the curved sword movesets in DaS, and can imagine having a blast with a pair.

I took my Dex toon pretty far then realized I missed my Sorc/Ninja/Everything toon. So I made my way all the way through the gutter finally. (F that zone don't care for it at all) Then decided as a fun drunken break to go PVP against Bellbros.

I suck at it but getting somewhat better. I am not nearly as optimized as most of them at my SM but had some good fights. One I lost when a guy was at like 1% life. He was a waver and clearly noble. Came back after and he had dropped me 11 Elisabeth mushrooms. Good bro. Faith in Humanity +1.
