12.99 on PSN on Ps3! I got hooked up into DS2 over the weekend and never bothered to buy it off Amazon. So I just picked it up on PSN store. DLing now. Should tide me over till I give in and buy a PS4 with Bloodborne or the reviews sway me different. (Unlikely)

Sweet. Just remember these things and you'll do great:
1)Squidheads are *********
2)You can run in the swamp, but you can't roll.
3)Blessed weapons cheese the game.
4)Arrows have weight and Item Weight sucks.
4a)Always carry the Herculean Strength ring. You can get it by trading something found in 1-1 to someone at the Nexus.

I just finished my playthrough and started my Dark Souls run. Ended up going Estoc and fire magic, so I'll be continuing that into Dark Souls, with a plan to go Lightning Estoc and Pyromancy. May also get a Swag Sword and make it either Fire/Chaos or Raw(for weapon enchants and resins).

Jade Hairpin found on a hanging corpse in World 1-1.

You already mentioned the name of the item, he could have just looked it up online.

Sure, if he really wanted to.

No worries gents, thank you both. I just got to Nexus last night after the DL. Should go to 1-1 tonight after work. I'm not trying to do a blind run or anything, I already was reading the wiki last night before bed a bit.

Rolled a Knight because I suspected that old school longsword might have the straight sword move set with both slash and thrust while 1H with shield. It does!

*I'll probably try out a Royal as well just to learn the games area's a bit easier with having an easy early ranged option.

Royal is OP. Almost always my starter class. Also, there's a ******* Sword in 1-1(dodge a rolling boulder to open a path, then go back to where the boulder fell). That one might also be up your alley.

But the real question: Did you manage to kill the tutorial boss? Also, male or female?
#236 Mar 18 2015 at 8:47 AM Rating: Good
Rolled the royal this morning for a 10 minute test before work. Unlimited Soul Arrow in left hand rapier in right is pretty smexy. I got really good with rapiers during my SL1 DS2 run. Royal is female, knight was male. I might also try a hunter to see the bow mechanics for this one.

Tutorial boss wrecked me. Smiley: lol I thought about being all billy BA and beating it but I am still adjusting to the slower response in DeS compared to DS2. Plus I already knew from a video, when I was looking at gameplay before I bought it, he was supposed to wreck you and most people beat it to see the easter egg in NG+ or another run.

He's actually pretty easy on a royal. Hug up on him and go around him as he swings, then punish with the soul arrow. Also, female gets a pair of increased soul drop bracers in world 3-1 that are really nice.
#238 Mar 18 2015 at 1:06 PM Rating: Good
Cool on bracers, glad I rolled pretty princess for my snobby royal then. Gonna roll with that I decided and try some other starters on subsequent plays. I know it does not matter in the long run but I tend to build themes somewhat around how I start. Subject to change at whim naturally.

If you need to go ranged make sure you have a bow and not a crossbow, as you could not manually aim with one in DeS and DS1.

Oh dear. It seems there have been some leaks of retail shots from Bloodborne and From has sold us a load of damaged goods. Horrible problems with the graphics from alpha to retail. They cut back significantly. They've gone too far, this time. They definitely need to be taken to task on this.

You got invaded in DS1? That's kinda neat in a way even if you did get lagstabbed. Smiley: tongue

I actually got invaded 3 times in DS2 this weekend in NG at low soul level, like Hiedie tower and giants low.

In DeS news I did 1-1 with both Royal and Hunter up to the first boss. Decided to go hunter for that sweet sweet longbow. Also replaced my ax with a longsword. I like the medium armor set up on the hunter alows for fast roll even with a decent shield.

Don't get me wrong, Royal is rock solid and was fun as well. I will use that one on my magic play through for sure. I just decided to make a quality build my first run instead and hunter was a solid start for that. Plus I like archers since I enjoy bow shooting IRL.

You kidding? I got invaded three times yesterday. And they were all power-geared ganks or BS lagstabs. I'm starting to remember why I rarely went human form playing through DS.

Wait till the "Teen hero/heroine wielding a bow" fad ends, and the prices drop back to normal.

I use mine in an attempt to slay large animals and consume them. Not because I want to be a mockingjay. Smiley: lol

I'm a Libneck. I enjoy hunting, but am socially liberal. Plus I figure being good with a bow will come in handy during the inevitable coming zombie apocalypse. /s

Also just shooting on the target range is pretty Zen. I'm glad it's spring and I can get my arms back in shape for shooting.

Back on topic: 2-1 is really dark. Almost to the first boss in 2 I think.

*Edit: Spider down. Used bow, not ashamed.

That's pretty much the only reason I'd get a bow. And if I got one, I'd probably get a yumi, because I'm a dork.

Nothing wrong with that, though he is surprisingly easy to melee. Did you find the safe spot where the fireballs can't hit you? Also, the next zone has two paths down. Go left and take the "safer" route through the caves, find the pit of crystal lizards and get the Dragon Longsword +1. Or go right and hop down to the boss in no time flat once you get the platform locations down.

Do not got that way yet. Go right and finish killing the rest of the bosses, collect the Dragon Bone Smasher near the last boss' area once that world's Tendency is Pure White, and then commit suicide in Human Form over and over again until the World Tendency is Pure Black. THEN go to the Crystal Lizard pit and farm them.

You may also want to forge the weapon from the 4-2 Boss' Soul, as it increases rare item drop rates while equipped. Also look up the farming guide for the Crystal Lizard pit, as they can permanently disappear if you miss them and they get away.

I seem to recall that they'll respawn after you kill the boss, though. Lemme go check.

Edit: Ah. Here's the rules for lizard repops and such.

http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/crystal-lizards wrote:
Crystal Lizard spawning rules:

Each Crystal Lizard keeps their own counter.
At the start of game, set all Crystal Lizards' counter to 1.
If the crystal lizard is killed, decrease count by 1.
If the crystal lizard escapes and dies (by falling off a ledge, for instance), decrease count by 1.
If the crystal lizard escapes by burrowing, decrease count by 1.
If a Boss in that world is killed, increase each Crystal Lizard count in that world by 1. For example, in World 2. If you kill all 3 Bosses. Each Crystal Lizard count = 4.

Yeah, DS1 and DS2 changed that where they would repop on the restart of the game as long as they were not killed by you.

Yeah I just used the cover spot with my longbow+3, he went down pretty fast. I did not have any fire resist gear or special shield so I played it safe since it was late and I wanted to get him down before bed.

So far I have just been doing the first boss of the worlds in order so I did:

1-1
2-1
and am now in 3-1.

I've read some different idea's about how you should approach order. Any suggestions from you DeS vets?

*Edit: This looks fairly reasonable for example:

http://www.ign.com/wikis/demons-souls/Walkthrough

Looks Like I am kind of following this without knowing I was.
