SO everyone claims its a boring grind.

First off umm wasnt every relic quest a boring tedious grind too? Why should this surprise/shock anyone?

I however like Eureka, it reminds me a lot of FFXI, hard to kill open world enemies, exp grinding in a party, elemental weaknesses, losing exp/delvling, dangerous to explore and getting aggro means your most likely dead as you cant just run 10 feet and they give up chasing you

My only thing is this:

wen you go in youre level synced to il300 even though youre wearing IL 360+ gear..... yet Eureka has gear you can upgrade thats il360... however why would wearing that gear increase your IL in Eureka if the 350 youre already wearing does not? Seems like it would be a waste or crystals to get that stuff.

Also i thought Eureka was supposed to be the new relic weapon place... all I see is a weapon I can upgrade to 350. Sure theres a +2 I cant see anything about but even then I doubt its IL just a whole 15-20 levels sooo it would be useless outside of Eureka

Which gear are you talking about here? The AF gear is your relic path (well the weapon is, still not super clear on the armor) which always starts at a lower ilvl than the top end savage weapons. Currently it caps at i355 when you're done upgrading it.

As for the ilvl sync, it also has the benefit of allowing you to take basically any level 70 job you want regardless of how geared it is. Group needs a healer but yours is i310 or something? No problem, go heal it.

So the part I like about Eureka is it's a grind towards something even though I completed my +2 weapon in 1 day total time as while everyone else was ******** "wah wah this is FFXI grind gtfo this game wah ah", me and FC mates were poppings NMs, leveling, converting anemos crystals to protean and gained over 1300 after 6 hours total of Eureka. Not even 6 hours straight, was over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday. The armor is worthless as I'm in full Savage gear (which is beyond easy but people still won't do it) and the ilvl is still below Tome gear, which by now you should have a near full set if you didn't space pieces out between jobs.

They clearly intended Eureka to be released alongside 4.1 content as the ONLY PURPOSE to the armor is glamour unless you absolutely REFUSED to do content in this game and you're still rocking Verity gear. Having 5 guaranteed slots are nice, but not really incentive enough to downgrade about 20 ilvls.

It is indeed for your relic. The process is:

100 + Job quest weapon
400 Crystals for +1
800 Crystals for +2.
3 Pazuzu Feathers for augmented versions - Which requires being level 20 in Eureka and spawning the actual NM. So no one will see the final stages of "Stage 1" relic for about a few more days at best and that's IF the feathers are 100% drop or random drop like the FFXI gear is.

With all that work, you could go into Byakko Ex and get an ilvl355, or, you can buy your mendacity weapon and get a 360 weapon.

So all in all, despite people saying it's "a FFXI nod" it's more of a nod to the leveling you did in XI, the only fun I've had in Eureka in terms of being reminded of XI was fighting Serket and Fafnir, because you can't just zombie it like 99% of FFXIV content and have to actually deal with mechanics, while you have people who clearly think it's regular XIV content dragging adds to the boss killing everyone.

So at 4.9 or whenever SB ends the relic weapon will be BiS, but for now, this content is a fun little distraction after you complete the game on tuesday every reset. Right now about 30k from 20 so I can finish the relic. You can't get the items ahead of time as you NEED to be level 20 to even obtain the drop or the last 2 spawns of Pazuzu were just RNGesus giving everyone under 20 the finger lol.

Do we know yet if the +2 AF armor can be augmented? Or is it just kind of pointlessly i345 armor that costs a lot of crystals you could have spent elsewhere?

You can augment it to Anemos (150 Anemos crystals per) which boosts it to 350. So kind of apparent that this content was delayed to a point they decided to keep it on part with Sigma normal gear. It gets 5 slots for materia so there's a chance if you don't go beyond 350 gear it may be BiS for that ilvl.

If that's as high as they go then this grind just got a whole lot more reasonable.

I main SAM so I'd need, at most, one piece of dye-able AF if I cared about dye-able AF (and I don't) so cool, grind just went from 4300 crystals to 1300 crystals. Neat.

I actually like Eureka, for the most part. It definitely could be better... if SE wanted to go more in the direction of FFXI, it could have created some kind of popped NM system within Eureka similar to how treasure maps work. As with most things, the zerg really detracts from the sum of the parts, and anything to discourage zergs would be movement in the right direction.

That said, I've really enjoyed grouping up with other people in a setting that feels more like an open world than a dungeon. I wish the game had more of this. Actually, I wish more of FFXIV felt like Eureka. It's refreshing having to actually be careful while running from Point A to Point B.

Admittedly I haven't spent much time on this yet and am only level 6, but so far I'm not really sold on it. I like some of the individual pieces but I don't feel like it comes together as a whole.

That said, it's funny how you can tell the XI players right away. They're the ones running through packs of high level mobs, unafraid, while everyone else runs around a mountain to avoid them.

umm the ones going close to the mountains are the FXI players.. you know cause we actually know how to avoid aggro and mobs didsnt top chasing us after taking 5 steps? Only the XIV players would be the ones running through un afraid lol

As for the only ppl whod have use fr Eureka armor are the ones that havent been doing anything. Not true ppl who lvl more than one job would have use for it too thanks to weekly lock outs its almost impossible to keep 2 jobs fully geared before the next gear set, let alone 3+_ so Eureka would be for THOSE jobs
