Before another thread gets locked in these dying forums, here's a place for you to complain about anything. Opposite of an achievement or accomplishment thread, this is for things that grind your gears. Elitists vs Normies. Including each other. Civility need not apply, just don't break the filter (unless the word is dumb to censor. Poop.) or general rules.

Haha - I'm also noticing an increase in PLDs who refuse to MT in weeping city (not even going to talk about wars, since they always forget they're tanks too.)

Can we talk about the fact that almost three years later I still can't queue with my chocobo out? Seriously, WTF guys?

That IS pretty stupid.

I'm not saying it's a simple fix to code around that problem, but it's definitely POSSIBLE (I can think of a few ways to approach it just off the top of my head). They aren't willing to put forth the effort to do it is all. And Yoshi P keeps misunderstanding the question when people ask him about it.

EDIT: Actually I'm wrong, it's dirt simple... here's how to do it:

// IS_COMPANION is just a macro that runs a bit of code to check to see if the character is a companion chocobo
// Everything else is a constant defined elsewhere or should be self-explanatory

void joinMatchedDuty()
{
	... // Everything before removing the player from the current zone
	for(int j = 0; j < MAX_PARTY_SIZE; j++)
	{
		if( IS_COMPANION(ch.party.members[j])
		&&  ch.party.members[j].owner == ch )
		{
			SET_BIT(ch.pcdata.flags, PCFLAG_HADCOMPANION);
			do_dismissCompanion(ch, "");
			break;
		}
	}
	... // Everything else
}

void leaveMatchedDuty()
{
	... // Everything up to and including putting the player back where he was
	if( IS_SET(ch.pcdata.flags, PCFLAG_HADCOMPANION) )
	{
		REMOVE_BIT(ch.pcdata.flags, PCFLAG_HADCOMPANION);
		do_summonCompanion(ch, "");
	}
	... // Everything else
}

This was me last night, but only because it was my first run and I didn't know what I was doing.

But since my alliance vote abandoned after getting just a third of the way through the second fight, I still don't know what I'm doing, so still won't MT.

Same. I NEVER tank content that's new to me. I'll happily heal or DPS new content but there's no way I'm going to tank when going in blind.

It mostly irks me because PLD has the far better mitigation for Weeping City while war and drk, not terrible, but aside Ozma, none of the bosses actually are magic heavy. Maybe mr Stone Face, but he's not really a boss. All of XIV's bosses outside of Savage and Coil tend to be tank and spank, so if you know how to play your tank job, you already know how to tank largely. The only difficult tanking in weeping for example is probably Ozma, simply because

and no offense to any..well actually:

BLMS NEED TO STOP STANDING TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT OF THE PLATFORM AND POP ENOCHAIN THEN GET PISSED OFF WHEN THE TANK MOVES THERE FOR LASER BAITING >.>

I have no qualms killing blm/smn/brds who love to hang out to the sides of the platform (literally no reason to do this in ozma besides dodging triangle form initial laser.) Since well, if you have 2 people to the left, 2 to the right..someone is dying lol.

Which leads me to another thing:

People who fail to listen to simple directions. Tunnelvision is a ***** in this game.

Speaking as someone who recently did a full reinstall on a new PC, redoing all your settings and hotbars really isn't a big deal. It may actually be a good thing. I ended up organizing my hotbars more efficiently this time around, rather than just moving everything somewhat at random every time I got a new ability.

It isn't too big of a deal, but once you're into end-game or are macro heavy like I am on tanking and SCH, it's quite tiresome remaking your hotbars and 13+macros (not counting alliance macros for explaining stuff) whenever you hop between PS3 and PC (in my case.)

Since honestly, they have settings stored to server in XI, they could in XIV. Or really, should.

I just moved to a larger SSD and one of the things that I didn't want to do was remake all of my macros and toolbars and such. You actually can back up your Hotbars and Macros by hitting the gear icon on the launcher. It creates a small file that you can transfer over to your new setup.

Why bother playing a Paladin if you aren't in the boss's face taking the hits. That's what the job is designed for.

^ This.

Regardless if you're new or not, XIV isn't the most complex MMO out there, especially for the "mass" content designed for people to easily access. You have a new PLD, a new WAR and a new DRK, 3 new tanks, the PLD is the better option due to better mitigation. WAR mitigation is lovely, but good luck convincing a war to actually tank. DRK mitigation is sort of similar to PLD but they're a lot squishier as SE balanced them more towards mitigating Magic Damage, which weeping city wise, very few attacks are actually magic based.

On Forgall during hell wind having Walking Dead is good incase you have slow healers but again, Hallowed Ground is superior since the PLD will be more than likely healed up faster (to avoid auto attack death like a war and drk will if they don't get the heals) if the WHM(s) already burned Bene. SCH and AST, especially PUG wise, tend to have the trouble healing a drk out of Walking Dead.

Ozma it doesn't matter much but he's magic damage, but the orbs in cube phase are a % of damage (always does 10 or 15k damage unmitigated.) So I can understand not wanting to MT being new, but if you have all 3 new tanks, PLD is the better option for MT.

Since they complained endlessly on OF for being "brought up to speed like WAR!" but then opt out of actually tanking.

Lets talk about the new abilities we got 50 -> 60 and the lack of a good way to activate abilities on your third bar...

I already had 2 full bars of abilities at 50, My third one is full too, but there's no easy button combination to reach those on the PC. Why cant we just hit CTRL + ALT or Shift, or even just any of those in combination with a number to reach the third hotbar, if not even a 4th hotbar we almost require. Now we have to Shift+3 to get there, hit a button, shift+1 to get back, it's tedious and far from quick... Especially when some jobs (like ninja for instance) have a lot of extra macro's for spells for me, or jobs that actually require you to use all abilities. But i imagine its even worse on the PS4 due to having limited buttons.

Why? Such an easy fix and every other MMO does it. Since XIV basicly copy'd everything, why not that?

I am not sure I understand what you are saying, you can set keybinds for that can't you? Maybe I am misunderstanding what you are saying, but personally I have bar 1 normal buttons, bar 2 is CTRL + button, bar 3 is ALT + button, bar 4 is shift + button. Like I said I am probably just not understanding what you are saying, but this works pretty well for me. Granted I think ability bloat is a problem in this game, no reason for it whatsoever, but still.

I have room on my controller for everything I need EXCEPT for DRG. With the current hotbar/crossbar bug for SCH also makes things kind of finicky (you won't notice this glitch if you don't do Midas Normal/Savage/Nidhogg Ex) but I do agree, it's just kind of weird setup over all. It also doesn't help XIV has an innate delay built in ontop of the usual delay given to macros so relying on those for some situations are bad but needed to get around some of this weird layout.

It's not too bad since you can activate every bar, but in a heavy rotation based MMO like this it could really be a bit more smoother.

Yeah you can rebind that. Personally I dislike hotbar paging (especially in combat) so I disable that entirely and make all my used hotbars visible.

Bar 1 is unmodified
Bar 2 is SHIFT + button
Bar 3 is CTRL + button
Bar 4 is ALT + button
Bar 5 is CTRL + ALT + button (I use this one for shared buttons like mounts and Return and the like)
Pet Bar is SHIFT + CTRL + button

This is pretty much the setup I use in every MMO. The only exception is when a game won't let me bind double modifiers and so I can't have those last two, or does something else like not letting me bind ALT (happens in a lot of reticle-combat MMOs).

You can rebind all that stuff in the hotbar setup. I have bar 2 set to ALT - (number) and bar 3 set to CTRL - (number).

I don't usually bother binding stuff like that (except mounts.) I have mounts and chocobo stuff other things I only use occasionally off to the side on the vertical bars. I have mounts bound to "." and "," (ground and flying) and I just click the rest. I don't even have Return on a bar. I just type /return when I need it.

I don't always. But my MMO setup is pretty standardized at this point. Those bindings are based on WoW where it was advantageous for me to bind mounts and my hearthstone and crafting windows and such.

As a for-instance, my primary (unmodified) bar works like this:
1 - 4 are rotational abilities
5 is an aoe
6 is an execute
7 is an interrupt
8 is a snare
9 is a finisher of some kind, usually a late class ability
0 is a primary dps cooldown
- is a movement ability
= is a ranged attack

On ranged classes - and = tend to be a little different, but the basic scheme stays the same. And I keep this setup between games and between classes. This way I'm able to pick up a game I haven't played in years and it isn't a problem because even if I don't remember all my combos right away, I can play the game without missing a beat. It also lets me play every class without being really confused all the time.

There are other rules for my modified bars... SHIFT tends to be heals, tertiary rotational abilities, and dps cooldowns. CTRL tends to be defensive abilities and cooldowns. ALT tends to be short-term self buffs and party/raid-wide cooldowns. I try to keep major cooldowns to the 8, 9, and 0 keys. I try to keep aoe abilities to 5 and 6. It doesn't always work out perfectly, but then all I have to learn are the exceptions.

EDIT: Also I'm using one of these things to do all that. I'm not some horrible tentacle monster.

As for PS3/4/Gamepad, I just do my DRK setup like this where everything I need is is basically in "one motion" and I make my 2nd motion on the 2nd pallet:
http://i.imgur.com/lDCVx9Z.jpg

So I only have to swap pallets once for my remaining skills, since playing an RPG and whatnot it feels more natural.

What's a jumping potion?

Is this a potion that makes you jump higher?
Is it a potion that jumps?

Because now I'm picturing a glass vial with green liquid in it bouncing around a room making cartoon boing sounds when it hits a wall.
